So I'm at the local deli eating lunch, flipping through the Guardian (it's a liberal free newspaper in SF found everywhere) when I turned to page #10 and saw the below ad for their website, trying to use a gun and look tough. I want to email them and ask to buy it. :)

Anyway, check it out -- it's got a spur hammer and front sight of an early model CZ75, yet a square trigger guard and rails of a 75B; the slide stop looks funky, and I don't know what to make of that rear sight - and fully ambi controls like an 85B. Anyone have an idea?

Ambi controls makes it a CZ-85.

Except a CZ85 with a spur has a rounded trigger guard, and a 85 with a square guard has a modern circled hammer. The rear sight is also not stock CZ, and the front G.I. style sight was used on pre-B models (rounded guard).

The parts just don't match...

Isn't CZ known for mixmastering parts on occasion?

Google loves me. I typed in cz-85 + target in the image search and presto:

Heck, you can even see the serials. :D

Cool, thanks for the lead! It appears this is a pre-B transitional that was made in the 93-94 era, based on what I can Google following your hints. I may drop a note to CZ and ask them for a little more info on this model...

Another good source, albeit not much posting goes on, would be the people over at CZForums at http://www.czforumsite.info/index.php. You could probably get a more accurate and detailed answer there than you would from CZ. ^_^

Model lineups change frequently. The gun pictured IS a CZ-85 version; it may not appear in CZ's current catalog and may have been discontinued. I vaguely remember those style adjustable sights on one of their models a while back.
