View Full Version : Pete Stark of East Bay

I got a flyer in the mail from my congressman, Pete Stark, who represents the east bay in the SF bay area. It says he's going to have some community meetings on July 23 in Fremont, San Leandro, and Alameda. I'll be Las Vegas on vacation, but I thought others might be interested in going to see what a crack pot he is. The guy is like Ron Dellums who represented Oakland in the 1980's, but Pete is white. He's also proud to have voted against HR1268, which passed 368-58 in the House to provide supplemental funding for our soldiers in Iraq. Seeing this guy in person might motivate more of us to work to defeat him in Nov 2006.

I always miss his meetings. I've always wanted to ask him why he voted (recently) to bring back the Draft? Even the sponsor of the bill (Rangel) voted against it.

A few years back he was pushing gun control so some of us packed his meeting while a few others set up an NRA recruitment table just outside. Paul N. met Stark with a cheery "Good morning, Congressman! Care to join the NRA today?" Old Pete wasn't prepared for that, nor for the crowd inside and he was not his usual lippy self.

In fact, none of these guys can stand a lot of gun owner heat, including Don Perata. Just like Pete Stark, if you're the only guy there he'll put you down, sneer, etc. But when there's a number of us, he bites his tongue and takes it.

Well, if anyone wants to go heckle old Pete, he's having some more town meetings. I don't know why he keeps sending me these flyers, it must be because I keep sending him letters to oppose a federal AW ban.
Union City, 9-10AM, Sept 10, Ruggiere Senior Center at 33997 Alvarado Niles Road
San Leandro, 10:30-11:30, Sept 10, San Leandro Library, 300 Estudillo Ave
Alameda, 12-1, Sept. 10, Earhart School, 400 Packet Landing Road

I'll be either shooting at Lake Chabot or running a cross country race on Saturday, so I won't be present to hear Pete's words of demented wisdom.

More from my favorite congressman...(from Opinionjournal.com)

The House yesterday passed an anodyne resolution commemorating the fourth anniversary of the Sept. 11 attacks. It extended sympathy to the victims and survivors; honored the military, first responders, and others who helped; thanked foreign leaders for their support; declared that America is not waging war "on any people or any faith"; reaffirmed a commitment to the global war on terrorism; and vowed "never [to] forget the sacrifices made" on 9/11 or to "bow to terrorist demands."

No one could disagree with that, right? Not quite. The House vote for the resolution was 402-6; here are the six far-left Democrats who voted "no":

John Conyers (Mich.)
Barbara Lee (Calif.)
Jim McDermott (Wash.)
Cynthia McKinney (Ga.)
Pete Stark (Calif.)
Lynn Woolsey (Calif.)

The original Resolution is here:

Golly, you just have to love this guy!! http://www.calguns.net/banghead.gif

My guess, well maybe (if the people who voted for them aren't dumb), he won't be re-elected. Then again, people don't really vote because he's providing them with what they need, they just vote because he's a democrat...kind like my mom use to do, but I changed that http://calguns.net/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

Can I propose a grafitti campaign against Pete?

Wherever you see a campaign sign of his (he is running for re-election this year), put up another next to it stating "I Voted to Bring Back the Draft" or "I Voted against Honoring the Victims of 9/11". Then call your local paper and tv news.

Grassroots, baby!
