I'm thinking about putting a forward pistol grip on my Mini 30 (with a standard grip stock...no pistol grip under the trigger group). Is this legal? The definition in 12276.1 states:

1. A pistol grip that protrudes conspicuously beneath the action of the weapon.

Does this include a forward grip?

Thanks!

The code says this:

12276.1 (a) Notwithstanding Section 12276, "assault weapon" shall also mean any of the following:
A semiautomatic, centerfire rifle that has the capacity to accept a detachable magazine and any one of the following:
A pistol grip that protrudes conspicuously beneath the action of the weapon.
A thumbhole stock.
A folding or telescoping stock.
A grenade launcher or flare launcher.
A flash suppressor.
A forward pistol grip.

So I would think the last item would apply to your situation.

Yeah....but the reason I got the Mini is that I am sick of the mag locks. I'm done playing the game for a while...I just want normal detachable mags and a kick *** rifle. Plus I have had two 30 round hi-caps that are pre ban. I have never had a mini 30 before so I came close to selling them SOO many times. Now I'm glad I didn't!

The mini is not legal just because it's a mini. It's legal because it doesn't match the characteristics of an Assault Weapon as defined and codified in CA law.

You need to read the flowchart.

I know. I'm saying that I am sick of using mag locks so I bought the mini. And I made this post asking about the forward pistol grip without doing my due dilligence and reading the entire PC (I'm blaming lack of coffee). Thanks though.

Fun fact. Ruger is finally coming out with 20 round mini-30 mags. Time to start repairing my old Mini mags.
