Interesting reading. I really want to apply for a CCW, I believe I have a few good causes. I wonder what the cheifs and sherrifs believe is a good cause. I'm sure no matter how good of a cause you have, it's still not good enough.

Apparently preservation of the most precious thing on the planet isnt a good cause. I mean, what else are you going to use a gun for?

Finding #2 - violation of due process? What is an informal denial? And denial by telephone?
First time I've ever read the allegation that issuers only have to report to DOJ, denials where applicants had fingerprints taken....

Hrm, what's this about. It says,
The agencies may require the applicant to:
<long list of things>
-provide proof of personal liability insurance
<more things>
Not sure exactly what kind of insurance that calls for??
Also, they limit the CCW holder to TWO different firearms. That sucks...

What a bunch of lame nonsense. I live in FF and I am by no menas surprised, but can they really get away with responses like: We feel that our process is completely transparent?
How can answers with no facts, no supporting documents and no data of any kind satisfy the legal requirements to respond to the Grand Jury?
Ridiculous and a complete waste ot tax money (including the Grand Jury).

How can answers with no facts, no supporting documents and no data of any kind satisfy the legal requirements to respond to the Grand Jury? i agree that what they are saying amounts to nothing more than a formal response, just words. firstly, i'm new to hanguns and hangun ownership and i myself am pursuing a ccw. secondly, i'm happy to see this "grand jury" take an active approach by doing an actual investigation. it may all be smoke and mirrors; the grand jury doing their duty to a "minimum" to satisfy the guy with the complaint. the way i see it is one more piece of paper in the right direction.
Ridiculous and a complete waste ot tax money (including the Grand Jury).

I found every response they provided insulting. I can say from experience that this is exactly how government agencies act before their day comes.

Typical responses written by an agency that has no intention of changing the status quo. Looks like they just had someone draft up some responses without doing any actual internal examination or analysis. They are assuming that it'll just quietly go away, and they are probably right.

it's hard to trust any government agency, escpecially when they are the ones trying to strip us of our freedom. i'm no stranger to the red tape that our state has themselves and us waddling through. these findings are formal and probably won't have an immediate effect, if any. but the fact that there WAS an investigation means that there WILL be more attention brought about by concerned citizens who find themselves fed up with this system. all the wording used by the responses from the FFPD is expected, right? no different from any other organization caught with their pants down. let's hope that enough people who've been denied ccw's see this and file a complaint to their SD/PD with the solano county or any other county trying to peddle the same crap.

if there was only a way to get ccw's under the juristiction of the state police being that they are valid statewide it seems like there is extreme arbitrary judgement

oh you bet it is arbitrary. there NEEDS to be uniform FAIR issuance. it's no wonder that each SD/PD in solano county plays by different rules... they can, until now. with this finding by the grand jury, hopefully the word gets around that 1) yes we (citizens) are aware of your (SD/PD) ccw issuance policies. 2) no we WILL NOT stand for an issuing agency discouraging us from even applying. more work by us is not in vein in the name of 2A, it's our responsibility.
