Got a HF safe on sale as an extra, and the safe its self seems secure, but the latch knob and keyless entry panel seems pretty cheesy. Anyone heard of, or tried to breach one of these? The whole panel is plastic, and seems like a weak point. I do like the plate steel and lots of locking lugs- including top and bottom.

Thanks

What's it on sale for?

No experience with the safe but as with all Harbor Freight stuff, don't expect any sort of quality. HF is a great place to buy tools to have as "lenders". I love HF and am actually going over there today so maybe I'll look at the safe.

It WAS on sale from $399 down to $299, and I used a 20% coupon for a $239 total. It will go on sale again I am sure. Must be a bunch of them out there- I had to wait for a rain check. They were moving pretty fast. Another cool thing about it is there is a separate locked compartment inside the safe.

I love Harbor Frieght. They have everything you never needed lol. I agree most of their stuff isnt the highest quality, but a lot of it does the job just fine and is great for a tight budget. Ive seen the safes there before and was curious about them myself. Ive seen Sentry and Bunker Hills brands there before I think.

Looks like a pretty nice safe.

In the product instructions .pdf it says that it does not meet the CADOJ requirements.

It would probably keep someone out for a while, better than no safe at all.

This doesn't meet the DOJ requirement but the Stack-on gun cabinets do? That makes total sense...

Where'd you get the 20% off coupon?

It looks pretty lightly constructed for it's size (230 lbs). Be sure to bolt it down or into the wall studs VERY securely.
