I've got a Colt Python that I want to ship back to them about a warranty issue. Here in CA, do I have to go thru a FFL or can I ship it directly?
Thanks

No need for an FFL, you can send & receive directly. I just did this with Springfield.

Depending on your "who's at home" during the day situation for the return trip, you may opt to have the package held at a UPS or FedEx service center for pick up. I had mine held at FedEx in SSF by the airport, all went well.

Also, many (if not all) the UPS & FedEx retail type stores don't handle handguns. I figured that was the case, my calls around the city got a "no, we don't do that" response. I prefer dropping off at a FedEx/UPS service center because the only people handling the package are FedEx/UPS employees. In theory, no one else to blame if there's a problem.

same for Sig too. I'd suggest contacting Colt CS first.
