Gunrunners in Duarte is finally open. I was driving by and saw the doors open .Not a huge selection of guns, but the owner said the inventory will be getting bigger. The prices seemed pretty good. Lots of holsters and accesories, web gear, gun cases, etc.Biggest display of Pro Shot cleaning supplies I've seen in a long time.
They have only been open about 1 week.

Is this the former Belleau Woods store?

I was told by the owners that Gunrunners has absolutly nothing to do with Belleau Woods other than being in the same storefront. They wanted the store to be in a different location, but the city of Duarte would only issue a licence for that building.

Hey Cam,

Did they happen to say what they would charge for transfers?

Let's get together soon... might be down there next week to drop off my 700 for Randy to do a Tan Moly Resin finish.

Just noticed today, and went in there. Nice place, nice guys... the milsurp prices are a little stiff, but I guess that is what Big 5 is for...

I spoke to one of the owners and he said they received about 150 consignment guns. I have to get over there to check it out. I'll post a report after I pick the ones I want. http://calguns.net/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

I was in there on Wednesday.

Nice guy. I think he'll be a good spot to pick up consignment stuff down the road.

Have to put him on my rotation.

Went by the shop today to see what they got.How about a H&K Socom with an extra Bar-Sto barrel and the fake supressor, and a bunch of mags! They also have several H&K P7's and P7 M13's.A Glock 23C used, a LOT more long guns including 2 Robinson 96's, the new model Mini 14's, a Benelli competition model with the peep sight, muzzle brake and long magazine tube. They also got their shipment of Benchmade knives and will be stocking Berger bullets soon.
I looked at their hours and they open at 7AM on Saturdays and Sundays. That could be handy.
The best part is they're only 15 minutes away!

if you're 15 minutes away next time we're shooting at the SGVGC you should come...

Draven32,
I'm a member at West End Gun Club and usually shoot there ( see the match postings in the Competition Section). I shoot at SGVGC on weekdays when I'm testing rifle loads , I also shoot some of the pistol matches on the weekends. When do you go shoot at SGVGC?

Whenever I can afford to...

I'm a frequent poster on Kim Du Toit's site ( http://www.kimdutoit.com ) and I've been pulling people together and taking them out to the range- forum members from the site as well as firearms newbies from school (I'm 34 and back in school, going to film school in Tarzana). Last time we went was Aug 7, and we had a total of ten people.

You might (or might not) be suprised how many of the Quentin Tarantino wannabees at my school that write scripts full of gun play and want to be action movie directors that have never handled or fired a firearm in their life.... (and if they have, they usually fired their uncle's .22 once, when they were 14 or so)

It's always good to know that another gunstore is around, I'll keep the address handy in case I get out that way. I never managed to get by Belleau Wood before it was closed down.

Just stopped by to visit the store today and picked up a Benchmade knife. They have a great inventory of guns there. The owner of the shop Paul was great. He helped my gf understand more about pistols and showed her quite a few of them. Hopefully, after going and shooting a few rounds through a couple different ones she will have an new pistol in next 30 days. Great shop and would recommend anyone in the area to just go by and check it out.

Do you recall how much they were selling for? What are their prices like on the other firearms?

$1400 Cash for the four Pythons (and I thought LA Guns and Fowlers were overpriced!) There was one blued 4", two SS 4" and one SS 6". BTW LA Guns has two blued Pythons, a 4" at $1200 and a 6" at $1300. With these prices I expect them to be there a while .. then again I'm a bit tainted since I just got a 99+% 6" blued Python for $800 http://calguns.net/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

Gunrunners also had P7M13s for LE only at around 1700 I think. The Benelli Practical M1 was a nasty $1330, about $300 more than I'm seeing online.

Pythons are goin up Up UP!

Are those Benelli prices for a CA shop? http://calguns.net/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

09-24-2005, 5:58 PM
about the pythons, the owner actually told me they were so high becuase they have custom adjustable night sights. He said that they had to be sent to the factory and be made just for those guns.Still a little to high for me

Draven
09-24-2005, 8:14 PM
I was in there when he told someone that story...

Trijicon makes night sights for the Python... they are $295, but still...

09-24-2005, 8:23 PM
no i actually think they more around 499ish

Draven
09-24-2005, 8:33 PM
$295.95 from gunaccessories.com (http://www.gunaccessories.com/Trijicon/NightSights.asp)

09-24-2005, 8:47 PM
o sorry i was under the impresseion they were higher, but what about installation?

Draven
09-24-2005, 9:03 PM
that would be another hundred, i guess...

but 'used' value is not 'new' value, even for guns.

09-24-2005, 9:11 PM
yeah i guess, have you been in latley?anyhting new and exciting?

Draven
09-24-2005, 9:18 PM
was in yesterday, had them check headspace on my Westinghouse Mosin

new/interesting? uhh, they always get new stuff... so much consignment stuff its distracting...

(I live 5 mi from them, tops....)

09-27-2005, 11:10 AM
I got a vortex installed, cut my barrel to 14.5in and GG&G forend cost me a little under 400 bucks. 200 for the GG&G and the rest for threading pinning and cutting my AR upper

Lazyman, i know a certified SWAT armorer whom can work on your gun for less..he is also a FFL and gives dealers cost, he makes his money on gunsmithing (ARs, Sniper Rifles, etc)..and he is local..email me at kh17150@yahoo.com and I will referr you. He is located in Glendora

Draven32, what are some examples of what you are seeing with prices with the consignments? I went one time, and the people were nice enough it seemed, but I didn't see too much in the way of a decent price except one SA revolver like maybe a Hawes and an ok price on a SU16.

Also it is very hard to see in the cases, poor lighting, has this changed?

Draven
09-30-2005, 2:49 AM
The consignment prices do seem a little high... I don't know how much advice they give sellers on what these are likely to sell for, as opposed to what they want for them....

lighting in cases still sucks, mostly because the interior surfaces of the cases are dark colors so v/l light bounces in them... may make a suggestion to them on that.

Was in there when they first opened doors months back. At that time it was $80. Jon, the previous store front owner only charged $50 for everything. We really liked Jon. The new owner seems nice enough but Jon was just friendly and really nice.

Really hated what happened to Jon. It was many months but he was having problems with getting his FFL to the new location.

Crown City Loan in Pasadena now charges $68 and change for a transfer and the FFL is always there now.

I just did an out-of-state transfer there last week. They charged me $75 and it took about 10 minutes. If Turners did -o-o-s transfers it would have taken an hour and a half to complete the same paperwork. :)

Try HMK Enterprises in San Gabriel, really nice guy named Harry who operates out of his home. He will only charge you around $30 for an out of state transfer, you can't beat that price!

626-308-3895 is his number. I think its a home phone so ask for Harry.

He's gotta be the nicest FFL I have EVER dealt with.

I think he might charge on a case by case basis but I don't think he would charge you more than $50 for a transfer.

Thanks for the info.

Even if he charges $50 for the transfer, that's better than some of the other places in the area.

Theres a couple of guys in southern CA that have FFLs and operate out of thier homes. They have no overhead costs so they can charge far less than a gunstore can, they don't have to pay for rented space or employees. Same goes for gunsmiths, theres quite a few guys out there who gunsmith out of thier homes and do it far cheaper than any gunstore. You just gotta go looking for them.
