So I got tired of waiting 10 days and then 30 days for new pistol purchases and the cost and availability of ammo, so I bought my new compact survival sidearm SLINGSHOT! :D I figure its good enough for the IRA, why not me.
I can conceal it, ammo is cheap if not free and easy to find, super quite, may not kill big game or humans, but while get me a squirrel or rabbit.

You have the right idea. I need to dig out my old slingshot. I wonder if the rangers at the state parks would give me grief about plinking soda cans in my site with this non-firearm/non-bbgun.

BTW, WRONG FORUM. Mods...Your also low on TP.:p

Nope the IRA won, but the slingshot lost to the bayonet.

I think he was being facetious, and the TP comment is referencing what appears to be a low roll of toilet paper in the upper right corner of your pic.

Being that the slingshot appears to be alot of fun, and this is California....What are the regulations/restrictions for use to remove all fun/enjoyment/use of just commen sense?

The problem is how quickly the tubing (or spare tubing ) will degenerate

Yup, you will not be able to pick up more than 50 rocks per month, and cannot even give them to other family members unless you are a DOJ licenced rock dealer.

...and where's the mag disconnect??? Are you sure that thing is rostered?

You could kill the CRAP out of a human, by the way, with a well placed shot from that thing. Well, maybe not that model, I'd have to use it to be sure but the old wrist rocket style slingshot I had in junior high would propel those ball bearings through plywood- I'm pretty sure that'd be bad news for a human head!

Trouble with these is the tubing. It will eventually break down and crack, then break. You need spare tubing, but when exposed to oxygen, sunlight, or both it breaks down pretty quickly (in a few years). Not exactly a survival tool. I regular sling, on the other hand, can be absolutely brutal in it's force but doesn't need stretchy tubing to make it work. :43: (I still can't hit a darn thing with the sling I made back in the day... but whatever it happens to hit when I use it usually doesn't survive the encounter) :43:

I have that model, the Marksman wrist rocket. The tubing I bought is the red one, it is tapered, this helps improve the velocity of the projectile. Accurate enough to hit human sized targets if needed. Quiet and convenient. Mine kept folding up so I used a pull-tie to lock it open. You can actually slip a couple spare rounds in the vinyl cross piece (the one silkscreened with the Marksman logo). Too many, and they won't stay put, but a couple, and they stay just fine.

I've had mine for what, 20+ years?

Try clear marbles . They glitter when shot toward the sun. And white marbles are like tracers. I can't believe i remember this stuff.

Buy the spare tubeing. Then you're set.

Had one of those in elementary/jr high. I read that you could actually hunt with them. Plus one of the spare tubing.

...Now for bragging rights, post your best 5 shot, 10 yard (or 10 step away) target and let's see what kind of grouping that thing's capable of....:D

I have one as well, but it's the Trumark brand. Excellent bands. Even if you have the Marksman, please try the black Trumark bands.

They are much stronger and harder to pull than even the extra power Marksman bands.

Earlier today, me and a coworker were just talking about how we needed to pickup one of these to keep the birds away. What a coincidence.

Buy the BB while you can, as soon as all ammo dry out. Your BBs will be the next.

If anyone here can hit ANYTHING with a sling, post a video to prove it :) I remember some survival show where the expert couldn't even come close to hitting something.

Slingshots on the other hand can be damn accurate. I refuse to let myself have one, because I used to use them to break all sorts of things when I was a teenager. That's all I will say about that issue :P

Certainly deadly, squirrels and birds are no match for a steel ball bearing.

Anyone ever chrono a slingshot? I like the laser sight idea but you have to break in the target pouch really well first so it gets that little groove that holds the BB in the same place each time.
