How many of you have applied for CCW and gotten disapproved?

And what city have you applied in?

I think if you're thinking about applying, tell us where you are, and then someone here could more than likely tell you your chances.

Oh, if you're in the Bay Area, don't even waste your time becoming a blip on your sherrif's radar.

San Francisco. I'm not asking about the chances of getting the license. If you don't apply, how will you know you won't get it?

I have a Florida CCW.

Yes, I applied for one, and as expected was denied, in SF. I figured I would do it just to bump the DOJ's annual number by 1 for SF County.

Did learn some interesting things along the way.
Here is the post I made. (http://calguns.net/groupee/forums/a/tpc/f/545600176/m/96010968911/r/96010968911#96010968911)

Just for kicks, try printing out the AG's written opinion that the 2nd amendment guarantees an individual right to bear arms. In the Good Cause section, point this out and refer to the attachment.

Who would I have to see to get the paperwork in motion? I have the forms filled out. Do I go the the Sheriff or SFPD? Which location?

Go to the hall of justice at 850 Bryant. Take the elevator to the 5th floor, hang a right, and go to the end of the hall. You want the Legal Affairs office ("Legal Division"), room 575.

Don't go to the Sherriff's office -- they will just look at you funny and say something really idiotic.

The downside was that it was rejected as expected. The upside was that I had an interesting conversation with the detective interviewing me, whom I'm convinced would have issued the CCW if it were up to him. I also had a really interesting 45-minute conversation on the phone with the Lieutenant in charge of legal affairs, afterwards.

SFPD isn't the problem. It's the brass that are part of the leftie political machine of SF that throw common sense out the window.

Anyone know where to apply for a CCW in Contra Costa County? Antioch to be exact. What do they ask you when you apply for it, such as why do you need a CCW? Me personaly, i work in San Pablo, at the Casino San Pablo, which for 1 isnt in the most upscale area, lots of crackheads, car jacking, and robberies in the parking lot of the casino. I also work in Surveillance, which if someone was to rob the place, thats 1 dept they would go after since we have all the video proof in our possesion. And i dont need to be confronted in the parking lot when i walk to my car at night by some crackhead thug with a knife or gun, which has happened in the past on numerous occasions.

I know i would get rejected since this is Kalifornia, but it wont hurt to try. I think if i keep applying, they might fold and give it to me, you never know unless you try, kinda like the squeeky wheel gets the oil.

You need to apply with the Contra Costa Sherrif. Checkout Jim March's site and detailed history with CCW's and Contra Costa County..

http://www.equalccw.com/

Reading all his info, and his posts on another site, I'd say it's more like "The Squeeky wheel get put on a bad list, written by bad, corrupt people.", but I like to believe in conspiracies... sometimes.

Sounds like you want to carry at work and/or on the company parking lot.

Keep in mind that this would be governed by your employer, not the Sheriff. Of course, if you want to keep your loaded gun on you once you drive off the lot, that would be the SO's domain.
