View Full Version : HELP! Boyfriend's Birthday...

So the boyfriend's birthday is coming up and I haven't the slightest idea what to do. He says he would like something like a membership to a hunting club (or at least a portion of the membership fees...YIKES!) or maybe a training course... The problem is that I'm not very knowledgable about local places in Northern California to do either one. Any ideas? Any better/cheaper alternatives you can think of?

Front Sight Certificate. His choice of various 2 or 4 day courses. Cert cost ~$200 on ebay. Course listed prices $2000 (inflated tho).

PM me if you need one.

You were born with everything a man wants.. Trust me. Just allowing him to do what he wants, thats priceless.

A guided pig hunt is usually around 450.00 IIRC

Have you tried asking what he wants? Unless you want it to be a total surprise this is the safest path...

my girlfriend sent me to Front Sight for training(four day defensive handgun) and she could not have given me anything better. It was the best four days I have spent in years and the welcome home gift was great too!

Take him to his favorite gun store and tell him how much he can spend. Guaranteed he'll be happy.

You guys need to check-fire. . . all the innuendos are not cool. Thats a new member there, and her first impressions of Calguns, is you guys smarting off with BJ comments. Way to set the standard.

Just a refresher in case you didnt know.

Default RULES FOR THIS FORUM READ BEFORE POSTING
1. This forum is primarily for our female Calgunners to have a place free from the jokes and comments that some find offensive as well as free from the 'piling on' that often occurs when females post on forums. To that end, while this forum is open to all, there will be unique and specific consequences for those who violate these rules.

2. Any valid and verifiable complaints of offensive posting, 'cyber-stalking' or just plain 'cruising', will cause that person to lose access to this forum. This is not the usual '3 strikes' deal, this is one strike and out so act like gentlemen in here.

3. Posts such as 'Pics!', 'This thread is useless without pics!' or other comments of this nature made in a derogatory or objectifying manner are not acceptable. Posts like this will result in losing access to this forum.

4. This forum is not justification to begin making offensive or restricted posts outside of this forum. Our female members are not limited to this forum, they just have a dedicated area in addition to the rest of the forum.

5. 'Clever' comments of an inappropriate nature and sexual innuendos will not be tolerated. Posts like this will result in losing access to this forum.

6. This forum has a very specified purpose, off topic and/or childish behavior will not be tolerated and will be deleted. In addition, penalties will be harsher for rules violations in the Ladies forum.

7. In addition to these special rules, the standard rules still apply here as well.

^ what he said. It's one thing for a female member you/we may know very well from a long history of posts, demonstrating she knows how to roll with this crowd and is OK with it. It's completely different with new a member, especially women, lets show some respect.

Where is your mind stormfeather? I was talking about blackjack, the card game you play at the casino.

When you hit blackjack, a 10, J Q K and a Ace you get 21.
It pays out 3 to 2

But then again,

The Marines I have seen around the world have the cleanest bodies, the filthiest minds, the highest morale, and the lowest morals of any group of animals I have ever seen. Thank God for the United States Marine Corps!

Well put! Thank you, Stormfeather. :)

Also, thanks to the guys & gals with valid suggestions! I am new to Calguns, but my boyfriend has used the site for quite some time now and everything he told me about it was pretty right on. You'll get the few who just post random useless comments, but the rest can provide you with some great info or advice!

How about a custom gun-cleaning kit? Spruce up all his random rods, and rags, and organize it all in a Craftsman tool box.

(He'll think of you every time you go to the range)

Other than that, if he hunts, you can buy him a Tag for deer, antelope, boar...whatever that can be used anytime during the year...(don't know the time limit rules on this, so check it out)

Welcome to Calguns.

YW, just trying to make sure we dont scare you away before you see how we really are! :chris:

As for Bday suggestions, i think all of mine have already been hit on. Ammo, Front Site, Range Day, New Gun. My vote is for the Front Site Coupon. Make it a couples weekend, you will have a blast with him, and trust me when I say, any other woman will be hard pressed to top that one! Guys remember stuff like this for a long time!

These suggestions are right on. guys dont forget great gifts. for example my ex gave me a G Loomis fishing pole one christmas....i swear its probably the only gift i remember her giving me over several years. I LOVE that pole. and for better or worse i do still think about her every now and then when i bring it out with me. .....but dont tell my new girlfriend that....

or this will be me ---> :18:

My wife usually has me order what I want and then ship it to her work. The suprise is then usually in how the gift is presented to me. Most guys I know, myself included, are ok knowing what the gift is that is coming.

Nothing says I love you like a new gun (or gun accessory). You could always do some shopping at Bass Pro or Cabela's.

If he owns a Ruger 10/22, buy him an Archangel kit. Way cool.

Get him an OLL marked multi-caliber and tell him the rest is up to his imagination.

Thank you bringing this up, I will make it a point to tell my wife not to get on calguns for advice on anything. I wonder if this woman was asking the same question at a gun store if someone would suggest the same thing? I think not.
