I am going to be doing an 80% build. What are my caliber options? Do I have to build the lower with a specific intended caliber in mind? Can I build a standard lower and have multiple options? I was really wanting to go with something bigger than .223 with one build and I also want to do a .22LR with the other.

A standard lower can accept magazines for .22lr, 6.8apc, 7.62x39, 9mm, .50 beowolf, 5.45x39, 6.5 grendel (maybe?) and others I cant even remember right now. Just build it to standard lower specs and you should be good to go!

If your going to engrave your info in the lower, Just put MULTI CAL on the sucker and build it for any caliber that fits in the magwell. Or get a bolt action upper and stick a .510 DTC on it for some real fun.

you can put multi-cal on your lower if you want to, but the engravings have no impact on what kind of upper you're allowed to put on.

I agree with SKKEETER, put a .510 DTC on!:43:

Lowers are lowers. The caliber markings don't mean anything. Period.

As long as the firearm is configured to be legal, the lower can be marked "Thermonuclear unicorn-killer, Cal 70mm"
