I was at the gun show at the Cow Palace today and spotted an HK91/G3 clone (not banned by name) with the pistol grip hacked off. They only wanted $3200. WOW, WHAT A DEAL? http://calguns.net/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_eek.gif

I was there today. Is it me or does anyone else notice the gun show really isn't a gun show anymore. I mean there were more vendors sell stuff like books, cleaning supplies, and surplus items than there were selling guns. http://calguns.net/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_frown.gif I spent more money for parking and admission. http://calguns.net/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_mad.gif There really wasn't anything I found interesting and thing I did spot was very pricey. How sad http://calguns.net/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_frown.gif

Yea I saw that. I was carrying around my colt upper trying to sell but no takers. The fellas at Sonoma offered me $200. No thanks.

I noticed that a few years ago... that's why I haven't been to one since. http://calguns.net/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_frown.gif http://calguns.net/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_frown.gif

Yes, the show was pretty crappy. The one in March was much better. I opted for the cow palace show over surplus computer sidewalk sale... sigh...

Did you catch the overweight fellas selling glowing orbs and sarongs on the NE wall. WTF? </div></BLOCKQUOTE>

Glowing orbs = Targets.

Sarongs = Proper attire used as "shooting outerwear".

I don't see the problem here. It's all gun-related somehow...

Yeah, I wasn't impressed either; it seemed like half the vendors had very little in common with guns. I saw the HK, but after I saw the price tag immediatly lost interest. I picked up my Vulcan stripped lower from Sonoma (it is the crappy 10 round mag and the finish still looks like hell compare to my FAB-10), some XM193 and 9mm Nato from Miwall and was out of there in an hour (unfotunately).

Is it me or does anyone else notice the gun show really isn't a gun show anymore. I mean there were more vendors sell stuff like books, cleaning supplies, and surplus items than there were selling guns.
That's perfect! http://calguns.net/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif That way there're no distractions. I got there at 09:30, stormed straight to Miwall, dropped $200 on 500 rounds of 10mm, 500 of .357 and 1000 of .22. Walked over to Dimitry's table to say "hello". Done and back in my car by 10:00! I was back home before my wife even woke up. What's not to love about that?
G-d forbid that other dealers start selling guns, especially at competitive prices at the show! And what if by some miracle, the AWB went away??!! I'd spend hours there, from opening to closing, both days.

They only wanted $3200. WOW, WHAT A DEAL?

You could build it from parts cheaper and still have money left over for ammo. http://calguns.net/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_rolleyes.gif

Simple...

Buy a clone reciever a parts kit and the required us parts and put it together either with a fixed mag or no PG.

If you think Cow Palace is bad, go to the TS show in SJ county fairground. Guarantee worst. http://calguns.net/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_razz.gif

I saw HK clone in the TS show a few weeks ago. I am not impressed.

It's only somewhat good if you want to buy ammo.

Take the Crossroad show contents and shrink it by half and you've got yourself the TS show. Parking is free though since you can always park on the horse race betting place and walk over.

Actually, that picture doesn't look too bad. The version I saw looked as if someone took the pistol grip and cut it off with a hacksaw.

I actually think I had a successful Sat at the CowPalace.

Picked up a few cases of 223, 7.62x39, 40sw, 8mm etc. Met with a cool guy and did a trade of my 1991 for his Sig. Picked up my 10/22 that I bought for $80 bucks and when I got home, in the mail was my Zeiss 3.5x10 scope (going on my PSS) I won off of eBay.

$3200 for a H&K 91 clone made up of "parts" (probably Century parts) is an absolute rip off. In the free states, you can get a JLD PTR-91 for around $1500.

However, if you can find a FFL around this Commie State who has the cajones to DROS a G3 or any other HK-91 clone in with a removed/sawed off pistol grip (like they do with the CA-legal Robinson Armament M-96), then go for it!

I agree, cali gun shows suck. Went to one in Modesto once. Admission was too high, everything in the place sucked except one dealer that was selling used guns. He had the most beautiful 1911 for a good price. My budget wouldn't allow it at the time... but I did find out the dealer was from a shop in Stockton. Now I go there directly.

I try to hit a big reno show (the one in the Hilton) every couple years to ooooh and awwwww over all the great things I can't buy.

Shooterx10,
Why does an FFL have to have cajones to DROS a Robinson M96? I've seen M96s at a few gun shops, and it's usually the shops who are more concerned when it comes to evil black rifles (one of the local gunshops won't even touch Cali-Fals because there's too much liability involved).

No, I meant the cajones to DROS in a G3/HK-91 clone such as the JLD PTR-91 without the pistol grip. I don't know of too many FFLs who will do a DROS on a CETME or SW-5 from FAC Wholesale or PTR-91 with the pistol grip(s) sawed off to comply with BS23.

The Robinson Armament M96 without the pistol grip is advertised as being legal in this Commie State. However, I have yet to see a HK-91 clone manufacturer or retailer advertising their rifle without a pistol grip as KA-legal. Unless, I'm not looking at the right place?
