For whatever reason, photos make the finish look rough, but it is actually very, very smooth and very, very even. Feels fantastic running your hand over it. This is due to the underlying steel, which started as a brushed SS finish from Taurus. I spent a good 8 - 10 hours buffing it to a bright SS mirror polish, which looked spectacular but was a real pain to keep from smudging up. Before painting it black, I rubbed the finish with a green scour pad to give the paint something to bite onto, but it was still very, very smooth.

Enjoy!

Can you elaborate on that a bit? Did you refinish that or from factory?

It's a Taurus Tracker in 17hmr that I refinished from satin SS to what you see pictured above.

About 20 minutes of prep/paint. About 2 hours in the oven. It's like the 800th time I've sprayed a gun so I'm fairly quick about it.

what kind of paint are you using? Gun does look good btw. I remember when you did your DE a while back.

Rustoleum Satin Black. I would have preferred Duracoat but it's $30 bux shipped and I don't have the patience to wait a week. I was bored and had nothing better to do so I rattlecanned the hell out of the Taurus. Turned out better than I thought it would.

I just finished painting the sights, but I can't seem to get a good shot with the camera. I outlined the rear aperture with white nail polish and filled in the front sight post with red nail polish. Looks pretty damn slick - here's the best shot I could get:
