View Full Version : Minimum Overall Rifle Length for a lever gun.

I am really on this kick right now of building a "Cowboy Assault Rifle". A lever gun cut down in a pistol caliber.

I know the barrel will be 16.5 inches but wanted to know what cali need the overall length to be. From searching here I think it is 36" but I thought there was difference between semis and other types?

Thanks for answers.

Minimum length is 26" overall.

For semi-auto rifles in Ca it's 30" with the stock set in it's shortest position.

Dirtbiker's got it.

From an ergonomics standpoint, 16" bbl is fine but if you are taller, the min overall length of 26" may be *too short*.

The trapper carbine is as short as it gets before it has to be a pistol or SBR.
