Hey guys, wondering if anyone knows much about this rifle.

A buddy of mine wants to purchase it from his buddy...

It's all original, in great condition... wants $2000 for it.

Seem fair to you?

On another note... is it legally transferrable to a private citizen in CA?

Thanks!

HK91 is banned by name - Only option he has is to sell it out of state via an assault weapon dealer -

NOT LEGAL IN CA.
If you want a real HK, the ones that are not listed as AW's are: SR9, HK41, HK 911

an HK91 is priceless in CA to a person who registered it as an AW.

an HK91 is basically valueless to just about anyone else, since it can't be transfered to a private citizen since it is a listed AW.

It would have some value as a demilled parts kit if it was unregistered.

Make sure it is actually marked as an HK91. There are off-list versions of this from HK, such as the HK41 and HK911, and from other manufacturers as well.

If it's stamped HK-91 then it's a category 1 assault rifle. If this is the case it should have been registered by 1990/91 and can not be transferred to another Californian.

If it's registered and you want to sell it, I believe you are ok to as long as the buyer is out of the state.

If it's not registered disposing of it can be tricky. might want to get legal advice in this case.

If it's not stamped HK-91, you need to consult the flow chart

If your friend's friend is not already aware, make him aware that his HK should have been registered as an assault weapon (assuming rifle is in CA). If it is not registered as such, he is supposed to relinquish the weapon to a law enforcement agency or he could be charged with a felony.

FYI...Hk911 prices are steep. 3k - 4k depending on the condition. I sold mine within that range. Also a royal PITA to dros since most FFL do not have a clue what a HK911 is. Most will accuse you of stamping the extra '1' on the receiver. I had mine on hold until DOJ cleared it.

I paid 1600 for mine, that was about 2 or 3 years ago. Prices have gone insane since.

HK 91 is on the RR named list, it's a no-go for transfer.
