I’m trying to set up a SKS to be 922 compliant. Using a recent Calguns post as a reference –

I may have hit a catch 22??? The magazine on page 2 and all the magazines that I found on the net that are made in the USA appear to be detachable. That would make it ok with the feds but not in CA? Would pinning the magazine be ok or is there wording that prevents the use of the “duck bill” mags?

CDNN does make a 10 round fixed magazine that is U.S.A. made. Use that, and you should be ok.

Thanks, I see they call them fixed.
What is the difference between the fixed and detachable? They look the same to me.

I have never seen one, so I couldn't tell you, but if you go over to Survivors SKS board, I sure that they could tell you what the differance is.
Here's a link the the site

One is fixed and the other detaches.

Mike, Sometimes we just can't see the obvious.
Thanks! http://www.calguns.net/bow.gif

Ok, I get it.
Even though the “detachable” and “fixed” are the same, it’s ok to use the fixed because they are labeled fixed.
Thanks

The non detachable mag are slightly different even though they look the same in the pictures. The trigger group holds them in like the factory mag. The trigger group has to be removed to install or remove them. Mark
