anyone use anything else for AR or M1A competition?
also, does anyone know where i can pick one up locally in the south bay (SJ area)?
The Turner is the de facto standard. Not the best, but a solid leather sling.
I recently ordered a Ron Brown (http://servicerifleslings.com/) from Creedmoor to try out, even though I have 4 Turner slings already. It's still sealed, though, so I can't comment on it.
Les Tam (http://www.lestam.com/) is considered the best and isn't much more than a Turner.
The cotton USGI web sling is also an excellent sling. It doesn't stretch like leather and it's easy to use. Just make sure you get a real cotton sling, and not a reproduction sling made out of a nylon / synthetic.

Tactical Intervention Specialist.
The best currently available (IMHO and the U.S. Marines as well).

I have a Tactical Intervention sling as well. But it's not legal for High Power Rifle (service rifle category) competition.

Excellent slings, not that strechy but they do strech a little. I have three NM two black and one tan. They are at least ten years old never had a problem.

I don't know where you can get them locally. Creedmore could probably get you one pretty quick.
I usually order 2nds off the turner website. I've got maybe 4 of them--can't figure out why they were deemed 2nds though.
