I love 'em, they are a little harder to get at a decent price - and getting more expensive every year... So far this is my collection of Colts.

1. 6" 1972 Python
2. Series 70 1911, (1970)
3. Detective Special 1974 factory nickel
4. Late 1960's Lord derringer set

I would still like to get a older police positive, a earlier detective special and a 4" python... but for now I am a happy camper.

My other Colt is a 1992 Commander so I'll leave it out of the "old Colt" thread. http://calguns.net/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

Its a Police Positive Special. I was gifted it by my father, who was gifted it by my Grandfather. On the top of the barrel it is marked "Republica De Colombia Policia Nacional" Serial number is 772344. Any one know how I can figure out when it was made? Thanks

My Colts are not that old, I guess. Here are photos of my six-inch blued Python (made in 1981), and my stainless Delta Elite (made in 1990) through various stages of refinement by top-notch 1911 gunsmiths:

My Delta Elite just got back from Bar-Sto yesterday. I sent it to them in mid-June. It now has a fitted, and ramped with fully supported chamber, barrel, and a new (fitted and nicely chamfered) barrel bushing.

Rob,

Best I can narrow things down is that your's was built in 1960.

Found the serial # data here:

Jeff, thanks for looking that up for me. By the looks of things, I was thinking that it was going to be a bit older. I guess it just had a rough life. Thanks again.

regards,
Rob

Here's a mid 70s Lawman MK III. It's a great shooter and has a beautiful blued finish.

I happens to be for sale in SoCal. Asking $400 for face to face transfer at an FFL within reasonable driving distance.

My garage sale $20 '51 Colt Conversion, do you like the way I customized it for CCW?

http://members.dslextreme.com/users/pogo/images/1851colt.jpeg

Just kidding about chopping it, it must've been somone's modified pocket gun in the 1800s, I'll post my 1st Gen SAA when I dig it out of the safe.

I must have the link incorrect somehow, trying again ..........

Here's one you don't see everyday in this condition; especially a 2-incher with the original Colt factory hammer shroud option (you know, that thing that "flips up" - LOL!! ):

I have plenty of "old" and "older" Colts, most are much more rare than this one - however, this one just happens to be one of my favorites to show off. :)

The top middle is the factory 4" Cobra with factory shroud. One of my favorites as well.
