View Full Version : Bullet moving forward after chambering

I just switched from an A2 stock to a collapsible one and noticed that the spring now seems much stiffer and pushes the BCG forward with more force (yes I did use a carbine spring not the A2 spring). But then I also found out that every time I chambered a round, the bullet would actually jump forward in the casing. I tried this with factory ammo and my reloads which I crimp heavily, and both had this problem 100% of the time. Should I get a heavier buffer or maybe a M16 bolt carrier to slow down the bolt a little?

This is with a .50 Beowulf upper. I tried it with a .223 upper, and the bullet did move, although only a couple thousandths rather than a few hundredths as with the Beowulf.

My M1A does the sane thing. 168gr match kings, with no crimp. move .001" consistently upon chambering.
It makes sense that a heavier bullet would move more but several hundredths seems like a lot.
Try adding more crimp if possible.
Good luck.

0.001" is nothing, I'm talking around 0.05" here.
