Just got back with my 6 boxes of 9mm, 6 box limit per day at Walmart. Still roughly 30 of 9 and 50 of 40 left. This public service announcement courtesy of Jazman. Now back to your scheduled programming.

The Mountain View Walmart sells ammo...? All this time I thought the Milpitas one was the only Walmart in the area to do so. :kest:

Granted, I only thought that because the employees I called at the Mountain View and San Jose locations told me so... grr....

WT*? what happened to first come first serve. The sooner they're out of stock the sooner they can reorder.

I was at my local wallyworld yesterday and saw them with 4 cases of Blazer Brass 9mm and i bought 6. I came back today to get a table and chairs and decided to swing by the ammo case just to see how much was gone.... ALL of it.

AND they have a 6 box limit per person as well.

Has this ammo "shortage" given enough reason to some of you to start reloading?
You can save money and select the bullet and powder charge you use instead of using what is available at Walmart.

I call most every day to see if they have any ammo at all. Today I got lucky with the 9mm. I'm sure it's all gone by now. They have it "on order" all the time, but with the nationwide ammo shortage not much they can do. I don't mind the 6 box limit, gives a lot more cal gunners the chance to go out and get their guns off.

I just went and they probably have about 8 boxes of 9mm left. They still have a decent number of .40 left as well. Also there were about 6-8 boxes of .308 Winchester left.

It is a good idea, but presses and primers along with powder is not an easy item to get a hold of now. You can get brass for free or buy it and also bullets are easy to get a hold of if you look in the right places. But try to get the other pieces now for cheap and it almost makes more sense to buy factory ammo right now. Less fustrations finding value packs and being able to shoot it right away compared to finding all your components.

I stopped by around 7:00, didn't see any more .40 or 9mm. Lots of .270 Winchester, though....

The two San Jose stores don't carry ammo - I've physically checked them myself. One has paintball supplies and the other has car stereo equipment, in what would be the locking ammo cabinet at Mt View and Milpitas.

No. Contra Costa and Alameda County Walmarts quit selling ammo a couple of years ago.

Da*n! Good info to know. Now I'll need to rely on this board for ammo more than ever.

Anyone find ammo today? If not I think it is safe to assume Mt. View gets ammo every other Monday and Milpitas every other Tuesday. I haven't followed ammo availability all that long but that's what I've seen based on the past month.

Gilroy has a bunch of 40. I wish I brough my 40 with me from Nevada when I moved back. It's all good brand ammo too and it's priced pretty well.
