I have an upper with a DD M4 forend that I would like to replace with a DD light forend. Is there someone in San Diego East county with a M4 spanner wrench that would be willing to give me a hand?

Or suggestions on how to do without the spanner wrench.

Thanks, Karl in El Cajon

Is it a free float forend?
I have seen some of them installed with a strap wrench, but that doesn't get it very tight. So it might not get enough torque to break it free if it is on there tight.

The strap wrench will work just fine for your M4 rail forend. I install this exact FF HG all the time with no problem whatsoever. Just make sure to use the 'seatbelt'-type. Avoid the rubber 'steel-belted' ones, as they break before the proper torque is reached to remove & install. FYI, the DD spanner tool is only necessary when working with the Lite Rail

If you are installing the DD Lite rail you will need to remove the barrel and barrel nut too.
