I currently own a BCM FA BCG but need another BCG for a second build. I'm considering a Colt FA BCG for this second build - are the Colts worth about $40 more than the BCM?

If you can find a FA Colt BCG for $40 more than BCM, buy it (but im me with your dealer  ). Any yes, they are worth the extra amount.

Can you legally use a FA bcg in a AR15? I thought that constitutes as felony to have FA parts in a SA rifle...

Yeah - that was the one thing I'm most worried about - don't want to pay Colt money for a Stag part. The bolt does have the "MPC" shot stamped into it (which is hard to fake) and the carrier has the "C" stamp (which is not hard to fake). Or maybe I'll luck out and the 1997 Match Target carbine upper I loaned a friend which I'm getting back this weekend will have a FA BCG in it.
