Is the assembly of the AR-10 lower similar to that of the AR-15? My friend just got his LPK and upper and I said I would help him put it together. It is all from Fulton Armory (including lower). He has a bullet button and a 9 rd mag. Also can you use an AR-15 buttstock with the .308 spring and buffer? Any help is appreciated.

Thanks, Tex

Fulton Armory is not AR-10, they are DPMS patterned. He may use AR-15 buttstocks but with .308 buffers and buffer springs. If he choses to change out his handguards, he must use .308 AR (NOT ARMALITE AR-10) specific handguards/float tubes. If you have any more questions, specific or vague, please let us know

Assembly is pretty much the same, I did a POF with DPMS upper version and I think the only difference was the bolt hold open. I use an extended version & had to dress down the back side due to the wider upper.

Buttstocks are the same, if you get the Magpul adjustable they do have an AR 15 and AR 10 style version - charging handle is longer on the 10 and the stock accomodates the extra length.

I just did one too on Fulton lower. The assembly of the lower is the same as a .223 lower with a few exceptions. The LPK should be for the .308 because bolt catch is different. Also they don't use a roll pin to hold the bolt catch. it is a pin with threads on it. If I remember correctly the takedown and pivot pins are longer on the .308 and so is the magazine catch. I am not sure if the bullet button will work. I think I read something about how it may not function correctly. I used a Prince 50. Make sure that it works so that you dont get in trouble. Any .223 stock will work so long as you use the recoil spring and buffer for a .308. I think that the Magpul PRS has to be for the 308 because the charging handle will hit the cheek rest if it is a .223 model. Hope this helps. good luck with the build.

I just finished putting together my Noveske N6 lower Using a LPK from Armalite and used the same instruction video on the Brownells web site I used for my AR-15. Everything was the same except for maybe the bolt release and rear take down pin. One question I do have is I got the impression that if you used the Magpul PRS stock(for the AR-10), you use the standard AR-15 buffer tube, buffer spring and buffer on the midway description. Is this wrong?

By the way, If you do build up a AR-10, It's real hard to find upper parts still.
I finally settled and bought an blemished Armalite stripped upper receiver, complete bolt assemblies. and barrels are still real hard to find. I have an order for a 20" stainless steel complete upper on order at Armalite and they said it could take up to a year to get. I put my order in on Feb 27 2009 and there were 400 orders ahead of me just in the month of Jan.

Yes, it is wrong, you have to use an AR-10 buffer and spring. BTW, the only difference between AR-15 and AR-10 PRS stock is that the AR-10 PRS stock's cheekrest is cut away to provide for the longer pull of an AR-10 charging handle.

DPMS type .308: DPMS, Fulton, Remington, JP, CMMG, Iron Ridge Guns, probably more than I can think of ATM.

Armalite AR-10 Patterned: Armalite, Noveske, Eagle Arms, Aero, ASA?, CMMG, Iron Ridge Guns, Hesse/Blackthorne?
