Which is what will happen to any spot thats advertised on the internet.

I make it a point to hold any and all shooting spots close to the vest, dont want them getting shut down.

Fresno Rifle and Pistol club, but not free $16 a day + $2 each target (non member) access to 100 yard covered rifle and pistol range, shotgun range with clay bird thrower. I'm not a member but its a nice range to shoot at.

The Bullet Button can't be loosened up, only the Prince 50. But you can add something to the BB to make it act as a regular release, that'll work fine in a free state.

ive got to say i used to go all the way out to spenceville because it was free but with gas the way it is ... it turns out to be cheaper to go to cordova shooting range for $10.00 bucks ... I live across the street from it

I live a tad above Colfax, miss that little BLM spot, but the trash (even with a lot of residents doing cleanups), then the forest fire did it in...and I even think there was more to it as well (there are a few homes nearby). Anybody in this area find a replacement? The National Forest is but 20 miles up the road, but the Colfax spot was literally 5 minutes away :(

I've got my blm map but I haven't scouted anything out yet. Most of the blm is at least an hour away. Is it safe to assume that all the blm spots are closed for fire season? If so I will just have to drive alittle further out to the desert. Most of the places I was considering are backed up right on the edges of Cleveland NF.

Closest free one is Cow Mountain outside Ukiah. BLM and it is the most disgusting mess I have ever seen . Next time I'm there I'll take pix. It is a shame.

It has gongs at 200 300 and 400 yds so it is great to practice long shots.

Every now and then some one makes an effort to clean it, but not enough.

If Cow Mountain has gotten that bad, perhaps a clean up thread should be started and a crew organized. Since it is a dedicated area for shooting I am more than certain that the BLM field office would support an effort and maybe even close it for a day or two for a decent sized effort in terms of people power.

ETA... Pine Flat Rd. is a lot closer to Petaluma than Cow Mountain. I was up there with some other CGNers this past weekend doing some clean up. See the thread on Pine Flat Rd. for more info. We need to get some serious effort going up there.

It almost pains me to see you guys talk about how far you have to drive , or how secret you have to keep a place, to find free shooting. I remember when I lived back home in Tulare, we pretty much drove for 10 minutes in any direction and we were good to shoot. It was literally 8-9 minutes to get to a friend's farmland or 11-12 minutes to get to some canal bank where we could shoot all day and never see another person.

Man it was good living back there.

Hello. I'm new to the forum, but I've been around guns enough to know how to be safe, and respectful of the area I'm shooting in. I'm in Sac too, and looking for somewhere closer than places like Spenceville. I've been told (like the previous poster) that there might be something between Davis and Sac along the canal. If anyone knows about that, or another local spot, please let me know, either here, or in a private message. I'd be glad to do anything reasonable you might request in order to verify that I'm not some gang-banger or idiot who will ruin it for everyone.

Much of the BLM land is opened to shooting in the Barstow area. There is a BLM Field Office on Barstow road, HWY 247, go East off of I-15 for about 1 mile and the BLM Office is there on the north side, across from the college, and they will direct you to areas and rules and I think you can also get maps. There are 2 BLM offices, don't go to the Mojave Preserve office as I believe there is no shooting in the preserve except during hunting season. Where every you go shoot, pick up some of the other trash and haul it out with you and ask others to do the same so we all look good.

Anything near the Stanislaus or Tuolumne Rivers in the BLM's Mother Lode area (http://www.blm.gov/ca/st/en/fo/folsom.html)? Red Hills (http://www.blm.gov/ca/st/en/fo/folsom/redhills/redhillshomepg1.html) is near Don Pedro, but explicitly bans target shooting or discharging of firearms.

The general Mother Lode/Folsom field office won't recommend any areas to shoot. I'm sure there are some, and would love it if someone shared. I love hiking, camping, and always leave areas cleaner than I find them and pack out all my trash.

So. California guys:

Berdoo Canyon is designated BLM land for shooting for the local desert area.
Located off Dillon Road, north of the I10 Freeway. It's about 25 minutes east of Palm Springs.

There's plenty of room to shoot; I've never seen a time where somebody can't because of crowding.

When heading up the road, you'll see several flat areas to the left which is where a good portion of people shoot. Continuing on the road, it will come upon a dry wash, with shooting on either side of the road. After the wash is another flat landing to the right, just before the road curves to the left and up the mountain. I'm sure there are more spots, past the areas mentioned, but I've never bothered to look due to lack of shooting areas.

Just a word of caution: don't bother driving through the wash without a pickup or tall SUV! It's easy to get stuck with a car :o

I believe that this forum is not a private forum. When I see people on calguns giving out locations on where to shoot, I just shake my head. Anyone can go to google and find these posts and that means that ANYONE, retards, you tubers and illegal dumpers etc. What that means is that the more you tell people where they can go on a public forum, then the faster that that place will get to be known by a lot more people and the faster the idiots will show up and leave their trash all over and basically **** all over your shooting area. THEN it gets closed and you come back here to cry about how it got closed and how it is not fair.

For everyone who feels the need to blurt out where you like to go shoot, hey, I say call it a name or use its name, but I strongly urge you to keep all directions on how to get there in PMs only. How closely you guard your shooting locations will determine how long it stays open. SteelE PeakE is constantly under fire now because of all of the jackasses that show up and leave their crap out there. No doubt I am sure a few of them googled it and they are not even calguns members.

By all means, I am all for helping others out, but I think that the directions need to be kept in PM or FTF only.

Just saying...

I know that spot very well :D
