My friend has one, never been shot in excellent condition. He wants 450 for it. Do you think this is a good deal?

That's a great deal for any good hunting rifle. If it's an un-fired pre64 (serial # under 600,000) it's worth at least 3X that. Model 70's made between 64-68 are worth the least.

Is this the new Model 70?
Walnut or synthetic stock?
CRF or push feed?

Not that it really matters, $450.00 for a unfired M70 is a killer deal.

Do any of the members remember Bower Wholesale on Hill St in LA where many bought ammo,reloading supplies,rifles,shotguns,etc.I went there in the 80's with a friend for a winchester rifle sale standard caibers were $158 out the door and he bought one.
