was wondering what the cheapest stripped lower is that can be used for an ar-10 .308 build. not sure if they even make them, but not looking for a plastic bushmaster or anything similar. needs to be metal. thanks in advance.

CMMG is a pretty good deal. In general the .308s will be more expensive than the 5.56 variety (2x on average). I found some good deals on GunBroker actually, but most of the time GB only has the DPMS ones which we can't get.

I think Aero Lowers have been sold around $299 on gunbroker. Cheapest I've seen.

I don't think "cheapest" and "AR-10" can even exist in the same realm!!! As far as pricing goes, you are looking at (before transfer/DROS) $400 minimum, topping out at around $550 for billet lowers. You are also going to have to get on a 6-month waiting list, unless you get lucky on GunBroker - and that's a BIG "if."

Nah it's not THAT bad. I got my CMMG .308 lower off GB for $330, and a really nice IRA-10D off GB for $435. With DROS, FFL transfer, and shipping the CMMG came out to $425 delivered. You can get lucky if you keep looking. It sure seems like the market's getting a bit tapped out because I see some of the same stuff coming back up for sale after the auctions expire.

I have an Aero AR10 lower I picked up for $299. I will sell it to you if you're in the Bay Area. I even have the unique pieces of the LPK for it. I was going to wait to get a LPK and then build it up and sell it as a complete but I'll sell it now if you want it.

I just picked up one of the new Iron Ridge DPMS style 308 lowers and I'm going to go with that one for my 308 build instead.

+1, AR-10s are not cheap no matter what route you take. I picked up two AERO lowers pre-Obama and they were $300 each. The NM Armalite LPK for one of the lowers was $225 and the AR-10 stock was $70.

Actually, you are right. Certain lowers can be had for about three-and-a-quarter (before FEES) to start out. My bad.

Pick up one of the old Hesse lowers. They are probably really cheap since no one wants them.

Hesse/Vulcan has QC issues - misdrilled/located holes, etc.

I had one and though a little rough finish wise, it ran just fine, no issues what so ever.

To add to the choice of AR10 lowers, personally I like the DPMS pattern magazines, though I think Armalite Uppers are cooler due to the infantry weight bbls.

Get the lower that gives you warm fuzzies, cheap should not be the driving factor! :)

They got aeros in stock and deliver. Used to be on sale for 299 a while back but guess no more.

Aimsurplus has the CMMG and/or Aero from time to time for decent prices. I like doing business with them.

I say somewhere in the low $400 is good. Buddy of mine got an AR AR-10 for about $400 on GB. Kinda pricey but it is what it is...
