I currently own a M9 A1 Berretta and I love it. I was at the local gun shop with my wife and I noticed a 92 fs Italian made model. I have been looking for a 9mm for my wife and she really likes it. My question is what are the differances if any between the Italian made and the M9 A1. Also I have had zero problems with my gun but I just want to be sure that these are decent before I buy it for her. Thanks to all in advance.

i know the rod that holds the long spring is different. the rod is located under the barrel. in the italian model, its made out of metal. US model is plastic. i own both as well. besides that, i'm not sure if there are any other differences.

with the italian model the quality is slightly better and the big difference is the slide/action is like butter.racks back real smooth compared to a us model which is a little gritty imo.

This month's edition of "The Blue Press" has an article on the Beretta M9 along with the differences between Italian vs. American models. There are subtle differences, but overall they are the same.

If you see the Italian barrel, you will see the chrome lining extend out of the crown, also. I have never seen American made ones with that kind of barrel.

no. older 92fs have metal guide rod, my 07 italian came with the plastic rod.

My take on it is the difference only matters when the pistol is being sold...
I'm not saying it should, but most of the sellers make an effort to point it out.

Click on the link he posted. Most is not all of your questions will be answered. With proper care, either version will will serve their owner well for many, many years.

Now if both were for sale side by side, I'd pick the Italian one. :)
