Where in LA can we shoot in a non-range area? I know people would say BLM but which one and which town/city?

As far as I know, all of the "designated shooting areas" in LA County have been closed down since the late 80's. The only places to shoot if you can find something is BLM land or public target ranges. All the traditional shooting areas like Kentucky Canyon, Texas Canyon, Hunt Canyon, etc. prohibit target shooting now. The closest BLM land I know of that allows solid projectiles is past Boron in SB County (CuddeBack dry lakes), Mojave (off of the 14 and Randsburg cutoff) and I understand there are places to shoot out towards Palm Springs. All pretty far from LA unfortunately.

Be careful where you shoot on BLM land; there are zones that do not allow solid projectiles (only shotgun rounds) so the best thing to do is contact the local BLM office and ask.
