Anyone have any ideas on how far LMT is from releasing their .308 rifle? I've been torn between waiting for the LMT, or getting the JP LRP-07. Anyone have, or shot a LRP-07?? I would love to hear about it.. How's the recoil? TY

I suspect this will be the new equivalent to the "two weeks" line ;)
The LMT piston gun took a long time to make it to production, but it's solid and a smooth shooter worth the wait. I'm crossing my fingers this one comes sooner.
That LMT sure is pretty. I know that it takes SR-25 type mags, does anyone know if the receivers are DPMS compatible? Or is the design proprietary?

LMT just emailed me back. They said they will probably be taking orders in late 09, and shipping 1st or 2nd quarter of 2010.

This is what I'm waiting for the LMT MRP in 308!!!!
It looks very simlar to the KAC lower. I'm wondering how close this will be to the KAC SR25 line as far as accuracy and reliability.

Is this thing going to be a piston or DI? It looks like DI. I wonder how much the first one on Gunbroker will sell for? It's going to be a feeding frenzy to get one of these:eek::eek::eek:

It appears to be a DI. But since it is an MRP design, I see the GP version will follow after 12-18 months post introduction.
I want a piston MRP .308.... !!!!

KAC production rifles have left much to be desired.

I'm not sure if I would want this in a piston rifle. Doesn't the accuracy suffer a little bit (1 MOA) from being a piston driven upper? I think I would be happy with the DI. If they could somehow make it as accurate as a DI, then piston all the way. Why are the LMT piston rifles less accurate than the DI?
KAC production rifles have left much to be desired.
Would you mind explaining? I am asking sincerely since they are not available in PRK and only somewhat available to civilians elsewhere. Some people on Sniper's Hide and ARF.com talk of them as the the cat's meow (personally, I have never seen or shot one).

Specifically on the SR-25, they made their way into USASOC circles in limited numbers by the mid-90s and were received fairly well considering M14s were the only alternative for semi-auto .308s at that time. By the late 90s they were arriving in larger numbers but increasingly with reliability and accuracy issues. This more or less continues through the present day as it's been fielded beyond USASOC and into conventional circles as the M110. This is specifically why many in the Army sniper community fought against replacement of the M24. It is not considered the cat's meow by anyone I know or have worked with, but I will give that it's a decent rifle and fits an important niche - it's just not a great rifle.

I'll report after I shoot it next month.
I swear it looks very close to the KAC new SR25 that is currently released with the Ambi setup....
