Not an M1A. M1A is springfield armory's version of the M14. That is an M14 in a SAGE stock or better known as an MK14 Mod O.

I don't think so. I'm pretty sure it's an M-21 with rails attached if it's not a straight up M1A. I don't think the army uses the Mark 14 Mod0

It is definitely not an M1A. It could possibly be an M14 with some sort of rail on it. I still think its a MK14 but the main issue is to much of the stock is covered by the shooter. The bottom of the stock looks very flat and square to me, that's why I am saying a MK14.

Now that I think of it, I believe the MK14 is a Navy deal.

I would agree with you but look at the barrel length. It looks like a scout squad length barrel to me. I could be wrong though, trying to figure it out.

not a scout barrel, not rails on a regular stock.

very least its a sopmod stock, could be a mk14 mod 0 which is not navy only.

big clue is the rails and the fact that theres no front band for the gas cylinder.

Ok...sounds good to me. Thanks for the replies guys.

I'm planning on getting an M1A and that picture looks like the length and set up that I was wanting. Probably with a standard stock though.

Indeed it does...sorry for doubting. I thought only the Navy used those.

Look at the barrel length. It's too long to be a Mk 14 Mod 0 EBR. The M21 and M25 both do not have that stock setup and the USMC DMR doesn't either. It could be a M39... If the guy is USMC... it's very much a possibility.

Of course that doesn't mean that it's not an update of something. However, if you look up the M39, check out the placement of the front sling mount. It's in the same place as the shot of the guy from behind...

Your right, for some reason i was thinking, sage EBR style stock=MK14 which is not correct.

Dont think hes USMC as hes in army colors.

It could just be a unit level purchase of the stock they stuck on there. It may not be any specific upgrade/update of the m14 system.

Correct.

The Sage EBR stock is the best stock platform for the 14 that ever came down the pike.

Too bad it makes a non-AW into an AW.

M1A/M14, M16/AR15 the same rifle(s) except for the trigger group and sear.

Yes love the Sage EBR stock. In Free america it's not an issue along with "flash hiders".

Sexy? Looks a little Frankenstienish to me. Most of the new modernized stocks do. Call me old fashioned but the sexiest version of this weapon system (grouping all the various versions of M1A, M14, M24 and so forth together for the sake of simplicity) to me was the USMC McMillan National Match in a woodland camo McMillian fiberglass stock and brown cover. Maybe it is because those were the ones in use when I was serving in the military, but I've always been a fan.

the 4th picture, pfc gatewood, is "sighting" at something without the lens caps, open, and he has an m-4? slinged. posing, or what?

no matter, i retract the post. he is there, and i am here.

The lens cap is broken off
