View Full Version : Returning Warrior Workshop

Just got back from the Ventura Beach "Returning Warrior Workshop" that the Navy puts on. Went on orders and everything was taken care of. Hotel room at the Ventura Beach Marriott, food from Friday evening until we left Sunday afternoon, airfare and a rental car. The only thing I had to pay was my wife's airfare. Pretty inexpensive from Sac to LAX.

The weekend was excellent and had the following classes:

Code of the Warrior
Telling Your Story
Difference in Crisis Relief and Well-Being
Improving the Process
Military Families...Out New Heroes!
Why I Want To Go Back
Couples Reconnecting Together
Getting Specific With Family Issues
Stress Management
Financial Impact of Deployment
Combat Operational Stress
Transformational Growth

There was also a Banquet of Honor Saturday evening with U.S. Navy SEAL Vice Admiral Bob Harward as speaker. VADM Harward was an EXTREMELY motivating speaker with a perspective on things to come that had everyone in the room listening intently.

The wife and I had a great time, learned a lot and were able to better understand each other and the thought process that each spouse goes through during deployments.

Everyone was on a first name basis and the dress was business casual. Calling my CO and a VADM and a RADM by their first names was...interesting.

If you have the chance to go to one of these weekends I highly recommend it.
