Just wanted to gauge some opinions on what you guys thought about the SW 99 in .45, or any other caliber for that matter.

I think I wish Walther made a P99 .45. Other than that, I have nothing constructive to add.

I love my P99 9mm though, which is basically the same gun.

Some months ago I got to shoot an S&W 99 in .40. Really liked it. Weight and grip were good, pistol felt balanced in my hands, decent recoil too. A few days later I fondled one at my favorite gun shop. But when I found out while negotiating a price for it that extra magazines were a little hard to come by (it was used and only came with one mag), I reconsidered. Dunno if the mag situation with the .45 is the same.

Milpitas PD is issued the SW99 in 40s&w. They all hate it. I've asked numerous officers.

OCSD dropped the 99 for Glocks 22 due to function problems. Too many stories to tell--bad gun for us, glad its gone!

Yes, since you have gone around asking them, would you please put their top 3 reasons for hating the gun. Just curious.
