Clips are for the hair, while magazines are for semi-autos.

Handguns in CA have to on Roster. So you can't buy from GB anyway. And no matter what above 10rd in MAGAZINE is a no no in CA.

I do not understand.
If the gun is used and has been in the state forever a private owner can not sell the gun to another CA resident?

What if you had a pre 1899 pistol that held 11 rounds

That can happen, but the gunbroker link you posted had the gun in Michigan; interstate transfer has to go through a CA FFL, and a CA FFL cannot transfer a handgun not on the Roster (read at the link for more complete info).

See
http://wiki.calgunsfoundation.org/index.php/The_Safe_Handgun_List

http://wiki.calgunsfoundation.org/index.php/Transferring_firearms_Interstate

But if that same gun were in state, and had 11 round magazines, those could not be transferred, while the gun itself could be. The age of the handgun is not relevant; there are no exceptions in the 'large-capacity magazine' law for age or for 'only large-capacity magazines exist'.

Isn't CA wonderful?

The pistol in the gunbroker ad is exempt from the approved list due to being a C&R [PC 12125(b)(3)].

The magazines for it would not be importable.

So, you could get the gun but not the magazines.

Penal Code 12125
(a) Commencing January 1, 2001, any person in this state who manufactures or causes to be manufactured, imports into the state for sale, keeps for sale, offers or exposes for sale, gives, or lends any unsafe handgun shall be punished by imprisonment in a county jail not exceeding one year.
(b) This section shall not apply to any of the following:
(3) Firearms listed as curios or relics, as defined in Section 478.11 of Title 27 of the Code of Federal Regulations.
