If Ruger is going to make AR's then you know the end of the world is just around the corner.

Ruger will be introducing the Christopher Lowe line of AR-15 rifles.:D

I went thru their product line and I based the poll on what I didn't see currently offered.

If you would have asked this question before the LCR came out I don't think anyone would have guessed it. I'm stumped!

It's all over the other gun sites.

We'll see if it is something special or just another AR

Well, it's not going to be an AR! :TFH:

Of course with the LCP and SR9 recall banners center page in the right column, one might have pause to wonder.......

it has to be an AR line... if they're innovative enough they'll make a strong 6.8 support. that will be the new market for ARs.

AR type rifle is the rumor at the local Turner's.

New rules to the poll...if you voted "other" you need to state what you think it would be :-)

Thanks,

They will announce that their Super Redhawk line has been sold to the US Navy for use as ship's anchors.

It's a gas piston AR most likely named the SR 22. Here's the carrier. Note the Ruger eagle:

A new and improved (and now 50% larger) legal warning rollmark?

Jedi
05-15-2009, 12:58 AM
It will be an AR, but they will only sell them with 10rd mags, since according to Bill Ruger high capacity magazines make guns scary.

Knight
05-15-2009, 1:01 AM
They'll do the same thing that they did with the LCR, LCP, and SR9.

The claim will be that it is the first firearm of its type, and that the design itself is revolutionary, even though it is just a re-hash of some older design or idea. In this case, it's looking like an AR that uses a gas piston.

My first thought was a M14/M1A clone. Making the gun they cloned and reduced for the mini 14 might just seem revolutionary to them.

ETA: But yeah, the popular opinion is AR clone.

At least it's a piston driven AR which is a big improvement over the old gas system. The question is how much will it cost?

Wow! What is Bill Ruger Sr. doing in his grave now?

If I'm going to spend $2000 on another AR, is sure as sh@t ain't gonna say Ruger on it. They should stick with what they're good at... .22's

Grumpyoldretiredcop

"Another platform redefined, what is it?"

A piston-operated AR that I won't be spending my money on. For that price, it should be an LR300 clone.

mala in se
05-15-2009, 12:59 PM
looks nice... pretty high priced, and i know we can all build a better one. i'm sure they'll be going for $1500-1800.

i'm sure someone here will pick it up and give us a full report on performance.

As
i remeber the piston driven units were to replace the M4s of special/elite units in the military. With the current budget it's going to be very limited. Not much money there, but if it proves to be a success then why not just upgrade all M4s issued to our armed forces to this instead of looking for a replacement of the AR-15 based rifles.

stormy_clothing
05-15-2009, 2:46 PM
I especially like how they say an XXX dollar value and obviously charge full price for it anyway, this should be 500 less.

AR type rifle is the rumor at the local Turner's.

Turners? I thought Turners went bankrupt? Damn rumors....

PatriotnMore
05-15-2009, 4:41 PM
As I see it, they are simply trying to capitalize on the AR market, using the piston. Since the piston it is the newest add on performance design, it allows them to come in with something other than another DI AR. They want in on the AR market share, and this was their best bet to enter it but, I don't think this is going to pan out for them like they hope.
