The California Rifle & Pistol Association (CRPA) is pleased to offer our highly acclaimed informational book: Know Your California Gun Laws and Firearm Safety Guidelines.

This valuable book emphasizes firearm safety fundamentals, summarizes California's complex state firearm laws, and answers frequently asked questions about safety and gun laws. It is an invaluable educational tool that can be used to reduce gun accidents and inadvertent violations of law.

CRPA distributes 100,000 copies of this book to its members, the general public, state legislators, law enforcement, media and local officials as part of its annual statewide public service gun safety campaign. CRPA's gun safety effort also alerts civic leaders to a variety of free innovative violence prevention programs available to them. These effective crime prevention and gun safety programs include civilian gun safety and firearm education classes, and a variety of award-winning safety programs. These efforts have proven successful across the nation, including many cities in California where they are currently used.

All gun safety programs emphasize the four cardinal rules of firearm safety:

Always treat all firearms as if they were loaded.
Never allow the muzzle of your firearm to point at anything you do not intend to shoot.
Keep your finger off the trigger until your sights are aligned with the target and you are ready to shoot.
Be sure of your target and its surroundings.
CRPA supported efforts have been instrumental in bringing the firearm criminal misuse rate down and the accident rate in America to its lowest level ever.

California state statutes regulating firearm manufacture, distribution, sale, use, and possession now number over 700! That's not including administrative regulations, local ordinances, administrative regulations, and California Department of Justice Firearms Division (DOJ) written and unwritten policies.

With all the rules, it no wonder confusion is rampant among gun owners. This book will help.

I haven't read the new copy, is it updated with current law? Specifically that a person can now own, buy and sell an off list rifle? Also does it mention that you can build your own AR or AK pistol?
