Trivia question: In the Ian Fleming novels, what was James Bond's first pistol?

Answer: A Beretta .25!

(Later replaced by the better known Walther PPK)

Really? I knew it was a Beretta, but I always thought it was a 70S chambered in .22 (also a favorite of Mossad, BTW)...

But sure enough, from Casino Royale (copywrite 1953):

"...he opened a drawer and took out a light chamois leather holster and slipped it over his left shoulder so that it hung about three inches below his armpit. He then took from under his shirt in another drawer a very flat .25 Beretta automatic with a skeleton grip, extracted the clip and the single round in the barrel and whipped the action to and fro several times..."

But which model Beretta was it?

Dmanit! I was so stoked when I finally picked up a 70S thinking it was his first piece...

:kest:

Oh well - a free bump for a sweet 'lil pocket gun. At least you can still find .25 ACP in the stores...
