A buddy of mine told me about this site. I'm 31 and married. Started shooting when I was 12 with a 10/22. And haven't stopped. Shot IDPA for a couple of years. My wife is also interested in sidearms and injoys shooting. I am on the fence on if I want to build a AR or not. So I am going to read up on your posts and ask questions as I go.
Thanks for the site.

Yuba County, allright! Too bad the Sheriff is not friendly issuing CCW's. It's not like Yuba is super populated.

Don't speak until you know the facts...:rolleyes: There are probably more issued in this little county than your big one.

http://sheriff.co.yuba.ca.us/permits.html
An application for a Concealed Weapons Permit may be obtained from the Records Unit. There are strict requirements that must be met by an individual before a permit can be authorized. A criminal history background will be conducted at a local level, State level and with the FBI through a fingerprint process. The entire process can take several weeks or longer. New Concealed Weapons Permits costs $120.00 and Renewals are $60.00.

Hmm. I lived in Davis for 7 years. During that time, I researched what it would take to get a CCW - as I was very curious at the time. Now, I understand that the City of Davis and Yuba County are two different issues, but at the time I found out that the City of Davis issued exactly two (2) CCW permits for a town of about 40,000 people. The county at the time appeared to have a less-than-pro-gun sheriff. I didn't bother trying to apply as I figured I would have been turned down. Everyone I knew was flocking to Isleton to get one issued by that sheriff - and it worked. A guy working for Brandon's (at the time) had his issued by the Isleton sheriff, even though he didn't live in Isleton.

So - educate me - do you have a CCW today in Yuba County, and how easy was it to get one? Your link is good, but it says exactly what I would have expected - there are strict requirements that must be met to get a CCW.

Actually I, and several friends do indeed have ccw's in Yuba County. Several of them were issued in the last few months.

When I said you should not speak until you knew the facts I wasn't kidding.

The issues you had with Davis may have something to do with the fact that the city of Davis is in YOLO County.

In Yuba County (which is not near or bordering YOLO county btw) personal defense is considered acceptable good cause.

Shocking you lived in Davis for 7 years and didn't even know what county you were in.
