Hey I tried to search but "9mm" and any 3 letter search query won't work (they should really fix that btw!)

But anyhow, i was wondering if anyone here owned any 9mm 1911's and how's the reliability on them.

I'm thinking of getting one and from checking the roster my choices are limited SA loaded, Ultra compact, and Kimber Target II I believe

Anyone with personal experience?

+1 for the Kimber Target II. Buddy owns it and its a great gun. Very little recoil due to it being a heavy 1911 and firing 9mm. Accurate and fairly reliable, every once in a while we'll see a FTE or two, but that can happen with any gun. Its got very tight tolerances so keep it well lubed and clean.

I've shot a SA loaded in 9mm and thought it was great
no FTF or FTE and defintly(all steel handgun) easy on the recoil

I have the Kimber Stainless Target II in 9mm. Extremely reliable weapon. As was noted earlier, with so much weight it has very low recoil and the tolerances are very tight but smooth.

Highly recommended!!!

From what I've seen the Springfiled 9mm line has been a very good choice. I also own one and it has been very reliable for me. Another to consider is the the Springfield EMP if you don't mind sub-compacts.

I have read about people getting a RIA .38 super and getting a 9mm barrel. There are a couple of posts on the 1911 forums about this. I was considering doing this also.

I love my springfield loaded 9mm 1911. The only thing is that getting my sti 22lr conversion kit on it has been hell and I've given up. Going to get a cheaper 1911 model, throw the 45 slide/barrel into a drawer and making a dedicated 22lr 1911.

That is one good looking EMP. What a difference a grip change makes.

That's what I did; bought a friend's Norinco 1911 and put a Ciener .22 kit on it. Works great and is pretty accurate. I had the kit for about 4-5 years before I put it on the Norinco. It used to be on my Colt series 80.

I'm leaning towards the Springfield loaded but where can I find one? And price is around 1000? That's kinda crazy because I've never consider buying a handgun for more than 800

Springfields in general aren't easy to find but I have seen this model at Reeds in Santa Clara and Target Masters in Milpitas. However that was before all this 'mess'. Other than that, you may just have to place an order for it :(1000+ tax/dros is about right. That isn't so bad in the 1911 world.

By the way, Irvington Arms has an EMP in stock.

Are there any double stack 9mm 1911's?

I have a Colt Series 70 1911 in 9mm. A true pleasure to shoot, the 1911 frame eats all the recoil from the round. It's easy to mod a 1911-style. Parts are easy to find and replace.

You might also want to consider the Browning Hi Power. SA, 1911-ish ...

1911 in 9mm are great to shoot.
Gamer gun in IDPA ESP division.
Yes, the Para is a double stack. Move to a free state and get 19 rounds!
Para has moved to North Carolina, quality should improve.
