I was bored this morning and after being at Vallejo wal-mart last night and only buying 1 100rd box of 40 S&W i decided to go back and buy what was left (place has been dry for months!)they had 5 boxes last night at 7:00 i bought 1 went back today and they only had 2 left so i bought the last of it, BUT... I went to NAPA wal-mart and they didnt have much of anything but i did look down and seen

30 boxes of 50rd .223 umc value packs at 25.97 ea in the glass case

under the register there was a small box 20 rd umc packs usually 9.97 ea about 8-10 boxes

also under the register was a 100rd value pack of 9mm and a 50rd pack of 9mm. both umc stuff

not to bad of a deal seeing as ammo is hard to come buy.I have quite a bit of .223 so i should be good for a while, but still couldnt resist and bought 1 box. thought id throw it out there and let a few of guys stock up to avoid the gouging going on.

I wonder why they had the ammo under the register rather than in the case. Could the clerk have been saving it for his BFF?

The 20 rnds at 9.97 comes out to 0.4985 while the 50 rnds at 25.97 is 0.5194 per rnd. Is my math correct? and they call it a value pack?

AC/Vallejo WM had 3 boxes of Blazer 9mm this morning.
No other handgun ammo (except a box of .32 and some 22short).
Only rifle cal. was 7mm.

I would say to hold out for the 223 100 round value packs. $39 They occasionally come in. My local WM has 20+ boxes on the shelf as of 45 minutes ago(chico). I didn’t buy any due to the 6 box limit. I maxed out on 9mm and 38. Or buy online for about the same price. I just picked up another case on line for $401 delivered. Took about 10 days for delivery(jgsales). Which is also one of the reasons I didn’t buy tonight.

I'm not the "you" you referenced, but I'll respond.

At Mel Cotton's we have a few boxes of PMC Bronze 223 left at 9.99 a box. We also just got our shipment in of American Eagle 22LR 500rd packs for $24.99 and we have received our full shipment of hunting ammo.

My suspicion is in most cases they don't fully load the shelves with the ammo. I was at Wal-mart last week and they had 9 boxes of WWB 100 9mm. I bought 6 and left. A couple hours later someone bought another 6 claiming 2 left. My feeling is they are keeping the viewable inventory light so to avoid getting pressure from customers to sell more. People will just walk off if they only think they have 3 boxes left instead of making an effort to get more if there was say 50.

Hmmm, Vallejo Walmart also had 9 boxes in the case. 3 after I left of course.

El Cerrito Big5 just got a shipment in, boxes everywhere, but no 22lr. Did have some 38special on sale, what i think was 44mag and some UMC 9mm. UMC 9mm looked to be $20.99 for a 50 box, but that seems high. Didn't notice the 38 or 44 price.
Lots of Rem 12ga slugs but pricey I'm sure.

sportsmanguide has American made Centurion .223 for $369.97 which before shipping is .37 cents per round. not bad. Will go on backorder with a fill date of mid June. I have $1000 of this stuff already and just placed an order for more. Good looking ammo. Also use the $10 off for even more savings. coupon code SG183
