Hi,
I've drove around for over two hours searching for any 22lr ammo with no luck today.
I went to 3 walmarts, 4 big5's and ,2 turners to find the shelves completly looted out gone. Do you just buy ammo online on back order or what?
seems like eveyone bought up all the ammo.

. I checked on gunbroker.com; everyone and there brother is selling ammo 20-35% above retail cost:rolleyes: on that site.
It's getting sad...I even notice 12 gauge #8 shot shells looking scarce on the shelves.
any info would help me alot,
Thanks.

At the gunshows, I buy by the case.

I also order from CMP via mail order from time to time.

I swing into 2 Wally Worlds fairly regularily, and have more than enough 22LR to last for quite a while, in 525 & 550 bulk packs

Yea, I guess it depends on the Wally World and the area. The ones around here always have 9mm and .40 yet people are always stating they can't find those calibers in their stores.

I just ordered some .22 from Cabela's too:cool:

This is the key. go to wally's, and go regularly. i dont' bother on weekends, but i'll go tues, weds, thurs. morning and lunch/after work if i have to on same day. gotta put the effort and be really hungry for it to get it. i have enough to last 2-3 months, but i shoot a lot too. probably more so when the marlin 795 arrives sunday. :)

p.s. once you get there, buy as much as you can afford. if you only buy 1-2 boxes... ain't gonna last you long. i buy like 10 boxes. even better, i told my wife to buy all they had on the shelf (about 10-11 boxes) since i have a browning buckmark way past its 10-day. so wifey and i will shot more .22lr thus shortening the predicted supply duration.

I have a couple of new 795's that I haven't shot yet. Maybe next weekend, since I just signed up for a CCW class. I have enough 22 ammo for a while, maybe a lifetime, considering how little I get out lately

Does anyone see any Federal 22LR? At all? Anywhere?

My mid-March Midway order for Federal AE 22lr has missed four backorder dates -- now they're saying mid-May. *Every* Federal 22lr cartidge, in every size package, listed by Midway, is out of stock except the shotshells.

The same results apply at several other internet outlets I've looked at.

I do. Maybe in my area, they don't see as fast. The only difference is wally world had the bulk 325 (40 grain instead of 36 grain) box for the same price.

Have you look at aguila possibly? i considered them and arf gsg subforum says they're OK on the GSG (but only searching for GSG compatibility).

2 weeks ago I got 2 federal boxes and they had 20 at wal-mart... last week they had 0.

If I new you guys needed so much .22 I would have gotten more...

I've seen Federal through Champions Choice. They're online if you're familiar with them.

I also buy .22 LR by the case since it's more practical with the number of matches I participate in.

However, I buy CCI and SK by the cases through Champions Choice. Hope my suggestion gives you another option.

This is why people are scarfing it up at Walmart. Double your money on GB - hard to go wrong.

Bass Pro shipped out my backordered 22lr today. Winchester Xpert high velocity, 19.99 for a brick of 500. 110 for 5 bricks, and the shipping was about the same as the tax they didn't charge me. It was on backorder for a week so not so bad.

I've had my best luck at the little corner stores that sell beer, wine, chips and ammo. I am able to go in every week and pick up 1000 rounds of CCI MM. No one ever thinks to go to these, and they always have it. Most of the ones I have found get shipments once a week, that should tell you something about Walmart.

This is the most overpriced 22 ammo I have ever seen. More than what Big 5 charges.

Angels Camp, I know of one here and a couple more in the surrounding area. Small Ma and Pa stores that pretty much have everything a person would need. I think that there is one in Farmington too, on Hwy 4. Just have to look around, and once you find them, make friends.

Edit: Actually, you might want to go to the Walmart web and do a search for towns that do not have one, that would be a good place to start.

Guess I spoke to soon, went by my local store today, they did not have much left, managed to get 500 rounds of CCI Velociter and their last 100 round box of CCI Mini Mags. They are expecting a shipment soon but so is everyone else. I saw a special on the Outdoors channal last week on CCI they said that they are tripling production to help keep up.

lol, i've given up on trying to find any 22lr here in san diego. well the value ppacks anyways. my buddy picked up 3 boxes of the western 500 packs at a big5 when he was on his way to work. he knew i was getting a 10/22 for my kids and he knows of the ammo crunch here in san diego. i got lucky and picked up 4 boxes of winchester (500 round boxes) from a cal gunner for 80 bucks. those two are the same bullets BTW. god i hope this ammo thing stops soon..... i reload for all my centerfires but you can't reload rimfires!

Just picked up 4 bulk boxes of .22lr 500 pack winchester at the palm walmart yesterday $13/box...they had 6 boxes left... you have to ask at the counter as they have the ammo hidden in cabinets and not on shelves... lady said I won the lottery, they hadn't had .22lr in over a month.

The Walmart in Valencia has a bunch of CCI and Winchester 100 rd plastic box packs. You hoarders will have to work harder to corner this ammo since you are limited to 6 boxes at a time. You'll have to leave the store and come back in again to get more.

Hindsight is a wonderful thing but it is not Truth and bears nothing in real time. So stop kicking yourself.

If you're in the North Bay, and not too far from me (I'm in the East Bay), I'll sell you a brick of Federal 550. Cost me $13-something and with tax $15-something at the AmCan Wal*Mart. I'll sell it to you for $15. PM me if you want it.

I managed to score 250 rounds of Remmington Vipers at Turner's in Redondo Beach for $16 as part of a Remmington promo pack. I don't know if they've got any more by now, but the guys behind the counter did say that a "shipment is coming in."

I was also able to pick up 100 rounds of Remmington Subsonic at Retting's in Culver City for $8. There were two boxes of it still on the shelves when I left yesterday.
