PK ws really good about realtime stock. When they ran out it disappeared.

They made som changes to the cart and website and maybe it doesn't do that anymore.

PK usually does not put all their stock up at once. They'll put up a few, sell out. A little later, they'll make some more available.

I've seen it with their RRA BCG's and LPK's. Hopefully that's the case here.

Why are they so cheap, though?

The Bacon Eater

They have been taken off the site. Just a heads up spikes tactical has the auto n/m bcg in stock, if someone is hard up for one of these.

What is the diff between the m16 and ar16 bcg's?

I believe the M16 is about an ounce heavier.

xm177
04-28-2009, 11:17 PM
From right to left, first 2 are AR15's & last one is M16. Notice how the M16 rear contour is equal while the AR15's are shorter on the bottom.

From what I've read, they are not staked.

However, from all the BCG's I've seen, only LMT's were properly staked.
Of course, this is just my experience, I'm sure others have seen different.

LMT - a solid staking job
CMMG - very light stakes that should have been done much better
RRA - very light stakes as well, a poorer job than the CMMG
CMT/Stag - not even a traditional staking, more like a line stamp

I'm running a CMT in my upper if that means anything.

Here's an article with some good info:

yeah thats actually where i found out that they arent staked.

Someone mentioned that they use red loctite and tests have shown that its reliable for thousands upon thousands of rounds...

I'm not sure that i trust that completely and would rather get it staked... How much does a gunsmith charge for staking?

I've got that same link bookmarked already.

The CMMG complete upper I sold recently did have staking, but not what I would call "proper".

For most people, it probably won't be an issue. But from what I saw, it had very light staking, similar to the RRA BCG's that have been going around.

Can't you stalk it yourself? Or will it flake off the chrome?

If you look at the link, Rainier Arms did some staking on them and it seems to have worked fine.

And yes, you can stake it yourself. It's called a MOACKS tool.

Please rethink your purchase, save your money for a quality regular *non- external*chrome* bolt/carrier. Perhaps some "ultra match" folks may also need a very finely-made carrier, but it will not serve any advtantage to the ordinary shooter w/ordinary ammo (and even most good shooters w/good ammo).

The external-chromed "pimp" carriers wear lining/lubrication of upper receiver. There's really no reason for their existence: Uncle Sugar gave up on them in M16s in 1960s when it was found to be detrimental to use them. (Inside of bolt carrier bolt opening *should* be chrome-lined however.)

I guess someone wants to make an extra $50-$75 off the noobs.

why would chrome wear the upper anymore than non chrome? Unless they coated it to thick or it was out of spec? Is the BCG supposed to wear down rather than the upper? Supposedly the chrome ones are easier to clean. Can you provide some more current documentation to read on this subject matter?

Chrome is harder. Harder things wear softer things.

...but this doesn't mean I am not using chrome or exo bcgs. I like making it easier to clean my guns.

So your wearing the upper and wearing the BCG less, vs some other proportion? Makes sense to me, pick your poison I guess, wear is going to happen.

back in stock! I got mine! Yeay!

LOL, finally!

I see they raised the price by $10.. now $205.

Still a good price compared to the $230 they normally charge.

Also, the pic they have shows a staked gas key.

Got mine today too.
It does at a bit of class to an AR :p
Mine has a slight blemish in the "dip" that opens up the ejection port door, but for the price we got it at, I'm not complaining.
