A FFL friend of mine picked up a LMT gas carbine upper for me @ a gun show (complete w/ CH/BCG) for $680.00

Spoke to the vendor and he said it has a SS barrel, not chrome lined (which is what I'm looking for.

Thing is, I don't see any options for a SS barrel (1:8 twist) on their website.

Am I missing something?

Does this sound ligit?

My buddy has been dealing in firearms for 30 years. Before the big outlets moved in, he had the largest store in Colorado. But.....he's the kinda of guy "who just sells them". Not the most knowledgeable gun guy, so other then asking him to check for LMT markings, I dont know any other way to validate this is what its supposed to be.

thanks in advance for any help.

I have never heard of LMT using a SS barrel. Is it a complete upper or a conversion?

I think $680 for a complete LMT Piston Upper is just way too cheap.

he didn't say it was a gas piston.

he didn't say it was a gas piston.

I guess I just read the gas part and assumed he meant piston.

Kind of like saying my car that has 4 wheels.

i always heard people use gas for "gas impingement" and piston for gas piston.

How would you describe the "non-piston" version?

LMT did sell SS 1/8 uppers for $400 without BCG and CH.

It seems that they sell a lot of stuff, not on their website.

Call em to confirm, but yes, they did sell 1/8 SS uppers.

thanks

I would have just said an LMT upper. It's understood that an AR is a gas operated gun. No need to clarify that.

That's why the comment, "My car that has 4 wheels"

Like I said when you stated gas, I thought you meant gas piston.

Of course now this thread will turn into a discussion of this.

So let's sit back and enjoy.

I have seen them on gunbroker complete with the LMT inspection tag still attached. Yes, SS.
