I'm looking for a set in rifle length and I'm coming up empty handed. On a side note do any of you guys know if any are made for the mid length barrels.
I have a set for the carbine:cool2:

I have never seen midlength triangles, the handguards (and uppers) are all over gun broker for rifle length.

GB is the best place for them. Guy out of NV is good to go on there with them.

They actually make carbine versions as well, but you need to change your cap to triangular, better to do on a new build then replace.

Triangular handguards are great by them way. They feel real good. Sometimes I wonder if it was a mistake to go with round ones.

I installed the set on my carbine. It was a little chore getting the a2 front sight off. And by your suggestions I found a pair new colt rifle length handguards on GB. Can you believe there was an idiot that had a set but would not ship to Cali ??? WTF Hanguards?? Gimmie a break. Anyways the colts will be here this week for my rifle. On a side note the carbine length handguards look and feel great on on the mp 15. I got those at pk

A factor in switching to the round handguards with the M16A2 was that they didn't have to keep separate left and right handguards in replacement inventory.

The development M16A2's originally had round handguard caps. Retrofitting M16A1 rifles to A2 standard would have required replacing the triangular caps. Then someone wised up and designed the front end of the round handguards to fit both round and triangular caps.
