NPR had Robert Farley of Politifact.com on just 10 minutes ago about the 90% figure, and how it was reached:

http://www.politifact.com/truth-o-meter/article/2009/apr/16/sorting-out-truth-about-guns-mexico/

Problem of course is the sample size, and source. No real consensus was reached, but made clear that statistics are slippery things.

The Mexican Government, of course, is sticking to the 90% "or close to it" figure, for handguns, however, assault rifles are more complicated, because......oh, nevermind....it's the gringos fault!

I like the fact that NPR gave equal time to a guy from the Cato Institute yesterday. I think he kicked ***. The anti he was debating was flustered at the end.

Sorry, I didn't even catch the name of the show it was on. I was just glad it was made into a fair fight.

it was on mcneil/lehr (or however it's spelled)

robert levy did a great job. he was articulate and answered well. the anti-gunner (from the washington center something) could not articulate as well and basically resorted to finishing every point of discussion with more regulation is required.

Allow me to demonstrate...

Have you ever seen this bumper sticker on the back of a liberal's grimy Volvo station wagon festooned with smart-assed political messages?:

... Interpreted another way, the message becomes:

"Stick to the official left wing talking points even if you sound like an incoherent stammering moonbat"

It's how they communicate with their followers. I think the infamous quote is "stupid is as stupid does", which fits the anti crowd to a "t".

Wow, I just read the transcript and the anti had nothing of value to say whatsoever. Just sounded like a parrot "More regulation" ... squawk ... "More regulation".
