I had so much fun working the Calguns booth yesterday I am definitely in for this next one. Maybe we can make an even bigger showing of it next time and possibly have our own booth. Although sitting at the Ammo Bros table sure did bring in a lot of traffic haha.

Brandon, I will work the show again on whichever day you need me to. I can probably work the same 8:30 to 2pm hours again also.
ETA: I'd like to do Sat. this time if possible, only because the ammo situation should be better, but I will work either day.
Eat Dirt, if we both get Saturday, perhaps we can car pool if you'd like.

I know it is a short ways off ,but I helps if we get most of the show planning and ordering pretty much done by Oct. 1st.
As most of you know in an effort to promote a professional appearance it is much appreciated if you have a CalGuns polo shirt if you are behind the booth. The shirts are sold at cost and are a very high quality polo that can be worn to any casual event. They come from "can'thavenothingood" and can be seen at GunsR4.us . You can order them online and have them shipped to your home or to the 'show coordinator' and pick them up at the start of your shift.
This is the volunteer schedule as of 8/12/09

We try to have 5 people at the booth on each shift. As you can see we still have openings on each day. It is first come..first served on days and times.I called X-Roads and wehave a wall table reserved. There are table accessories in LA and they can be used for both Costa Mesa and Ontario.
The one thing you may need is an ABS or PVC frame to put the banner and shirts on. Look at theone in the Del Mar July show thread. It worked good, is lightweight ,and comes apart in 4 ft. sections. It can be modified to be either a wall booth unit or one out on the floor.
The sooner we get a show coordinator the better. A few of have done this before andwe will give you all the help you will need.

We usually have one OLL gun and one "grabber "gun. I brought an "Oswald Carcano " to the last show ,so if someone brings an AR, your M1A would be a nice compliment.

Come on, someone step up and be coordinator. I have been doing it in prep for the Costa Mesa show and if anyone steps up for this show I will offer you my full assistance and help you learn the ropes of being a coordinator (it really isn't that hard, and with a decent volunteer roster in place already, it's even easier).
That said, if no one steps up by 9/1 I will volunteer for that role to fill it in, but I think we would be best served to get more people trained and gaining experience at being coordinators.

Hi now that I have seen what a show is like I will be updating the volunteer schedule and posting a new schedule. Thx
We have a few spots left and there are a few folks that posted they would like to help. I will ping the Handles I got from the thread and see if we can fill up the open spots.

Hi again, we have some changes. Basically we will have 3 positions to fill at the show.
(1) Booth Volunteer: This position will work their shift or shifts behind the booth table.
(2) Crowd Volunteer: This position will work the crowds. U will carry an AR or AK or something that requires MODS to be CA legal. You will have a sign that says "Ask me why this is legal".
(3) Line Volunteer: This position will work the lines. You will hand out fliers, info packets, FAQ sheets.
Choose one or two or three to work and send me feedback as to which one you want to work.
The link will take you to the current schedule.

Swing by the upcoming Del Mar booth and spend some time with the gang. It's pretty straightforward; enjoy the time communicating with fellow enthusiasts, show them the benefits of being a part of the community and how it works, thank them for their interest. It's tons of fun and gets you juiced to go after the next one. Activism is addictive.

I hope this is not the wrong sub-forum to ask this question.
I could not make it to the last show at Del Mar and was wondering if anyone saw metal military ammo cans for sale and for how much? I am looking for the " fatty " cans.
I saw those for sale at the AZ gun show I went to a while back but could not buy them since I flew and did not have time to pack them up before my flight.
Thanks for any info on this.

don't know what the "fatty" cans are but there were at least 3 or 4 vendors selling ammo cans in a wide variety of sizes. the hubby thought they were pretty good prices.

The fatty can I was referring to is the one that were made to carry 800 rounds of 5.56 ammo. I started calling them " fatty" cans after sales people at a few surplus stores refer to them as such.

Glad I got to meet you guys!
It was nice to see and hear so many attendees talking about the political situation and voicing out against it. Got 3 shirts and tons of stickers and best of all the wifey loved the designs and got a shirt as well. My dad would have love to see the carbine and garand M1 on display.
The rest of the show was decent got to spend some time with the guys at J&J armory talking about their new semi auto .308 thats supposed to be a real tack driver.
I enjoyed talking with Dave over at Nemesis Arms a couple of booths away. That guy has put some serious effort in making the EDM platform much more user friendly as well as worked out some of the design bugs that gave me some headaches especially.
Tons of ammo booths that were at decent prices. Nice to see ammo going for online prices and not what they charge around here!
PRK was also there with some eye poping guns that were all of course CA legal.
Cold War shooters was in force with plenty of nice guns to drool over.
All in all it was worth the 2 hour drive and gas money. Hopefully the shows up here in the valley are taking note as the ontario show blew the doors off anything locally!
Wished I would have seen some more reloading equipment though.
bcrich
10-25-2009, 07:10 PM
bombonbus, the reason for the lack of reloading components at the show is because ontario has a bs rule/policy that doesn't allow the sale of powders/primers which doesn't make sense.....drive to nearby basspro for that. Costa mesa show is where its at for components! cant wait for that one
