View Full Version : Stupid AR-10 stock question

I am putting together an AR-10 and I am getting some conflicting info.
I was under the assumption, because it makes sense, that an AR-10 needs a different spring and buffer for the stock than an AR-15.

However, I just saw an add for a Magpul PRS stock and the add said that it is interchangeable between the AR-15 and AR-10 with no extra parts or accessories needed.

Whats the story?

The Magpul PRS 308 stock is identical to the 307 model except that the cheek piece is smaller to allow for the longer charging handle on a 308 build. You can use either stock on a non-308 AR. If you use the 307 model stock on a 308 build, you cannot operate the charging handle with the cheek piece raised. 308 rifle builds usually require a specific buffer and spring that is not interchangeable with a non-308 build.

Ahhhh. I thought that was the case on the spring and buffer but I didn't know about the cheek piece and the charging handle. Thanks for the info, i'll wait for my backordered stock rather than try to get something from an individual.
Glad I asked.
Thanks.
