if the point of having a single point sling is that you can transition to support hand more quickly... how do you do that on an mmg build? the fin pretty much blocks all sling mounts unless you mount the sling on the buttstock, and i'm guessing that doesn't work too well when you need to use the sling for shooting stability.

That's why they created QD setups. Run a 1/2 point sling with a QD at the front and/or rear and your fine.

? how does that allow you to transition with an mmg in the way?

It doesn't. Someone, perhaps MMG, should design an MMG with a single QD or sling attachment at the back of the fin, equally accessible from either side. It might be as simple as drilling a single hole through the fin and putting a ring (welded perhaps, or maybe like a keyring) through it, then using a metal sling hook.

But if you were in a tactical carbine class such as Magpul Dynamics', they would simply recommend that you detach the sling or throw it off of you while transitioning. That's the advice they gave to the guys running 2pt slings, and they showed various methods of throwing off the sling quickly and without getting it caught on gear or the gun. Using the Magpul MS2 sling, they showed ways of quickly converting from one point to two and back as needed.

The argument was that 2pts are very useful for guys such as Harbor Patrol and Coast Guard (and SEALs) because they could quickly sling the rifle over their backs in order to climb ladders, etc.

I tried to use the Magpul MS2 with the MMG and ACE FX stock... it works! Action and reaction hand transistion is possible and smooth.

Clipping the MS2 to the sling mount that is setup just like it here:

Yes. Very effectively too!

The extension part of the MS2 slide in between the stock and the MMG's fin....

This is an OLD picture:

Can you see in my last post? The one in the pic is the ACE ARFX stock.

sorry i meant the arfxe i always get those two confused because i think the e should mean extended, but i think it means entry

with this in mind i suppose the ultralite ace stock would fare even better with a single point.

I could almost guessed that you actually meant AR FX-E... :D

Just compare them visually here, I think they would have a similar gap and that it would work....
