I was just wondering if anyone can help ID my rifle. Its a remington model 40X serial #44206B, it has a blued receiver w/26" stainless barrel chambered in 7.62 w/ 1 in 12 twist. It has a walnut stock w/ accesory rail in forearm. It also looks like it was trimmed for a peep sight at one time.I bought it for $700 back in 95 @ the pomona gun show and it is by far the most accurate rifle I've ever owned. BTW, it also is a repeater, not single shot- is that unusual ? thanks for any help.Mike

Sounds like a basic 40X. I have a similar setup in the 39XXX range, except the barrel is fluted. Stock has the rail and rear sight cut out. I use a Redfield Olympic peep rear & globe front sight. I think the barrel is marked 7.62 Nato. Excellent trigger, very accurate.
