I would like to get some opinions of what the average price is on 7.62x39 these days. I remember a few months ago I used to see 1000s of Wolf going for around $200. Now, when I look online I am finding the average to be around $350 or so. What would you consider a good price now?

And does anyone know of a store around the Livermore area that sells cheap 7.62x39? I know J&R has a few boxes, but does anyone else sell anything?

Thanks for your time.

Few months ago I got 1000 delivered for $195. This month it was $265 with a free Cabelas box.

J & R's it in livermore unless you go to Big5 or Dom's.

Do you mind telling me where you found 1000 for $265?

And what are the prices like at Doms and Big 5?

Thanks for the quick reply to.

SilverBear and Wolf were $265/1K Monday at J&G sales in Prescott,AZ
Their parking lot was full and so was the shop. I heard someone say they get their ammo shipments on mondays and the locals usually clean them out.

How many months ago is a few months ago? A few months ago I recall seeing wolf yellow box 7.62x39 go for like at least $150 for 500rds. If you really got it for that price a few months ago, you are a lucky man

I bought from Ammoman, so whenever he actually had stock to sell was when I purchased. Haven't worked since end of Jan. so time maybe going a little slower for me.

Well there is a few boxes of Remington 7.62x39mm @ Big 5 (if you want to pay $17.99 a box)!!

There are some crates in S. OC for $418.99 (for 1200 rds on stripper clips)....

I would say the average is $6.00 a box for the Wolf .123 gr box of 20, and roughly $350 - $400 a crate (for 1k crate).

That's what I have been paying anyways....

I saw that Turner's had some WOLF for $5.98 a box but could not get there in time.... (thanks ammo hoarders!!).

Yes... a box as in 20 rds.

I guess that's why it's still there. Nothing special, just plain brass-cased FMJ....

I haven't been able to find it in stock anywhere recently. Hoping to find some at the Reno Gun show.

No offensive Big 5 is the worst place to buy ammo, the only exception is .22 ammo and maybe birdshot. I remember 7.62x54r being like a dollar a round at big5 so instead i went online a few years ago i got 440 rounds for 60 dollars+shipping from cheaperthandirt.com. I still have half the ammo left for the mosin nagant.

Since I am on the topic of ammo, I have another ammo related question.

I remember reading that certian types of ammo were not allowed at some shooting ranges due to them sparking and possibly causing fires. I think this was steel core ammo. Or is it something else? I'd like to know so I can try to avoid it.

I will be going to the Livermore range, and does anyone what types of ammo they don't allow?

I've been buying them from ammunitiontogo.com and grabbing up the golden bear stuff. It really seems to like my gun quite a bit and have had great luck with it. I can get it all the way down to five and change per box from them and usually make a big order out of it when possible to save on shipping.
