I hope this does not come as a naive question, but I have searched and Googled to no avail. Can you bring a rifle scope when traveling overseas?

To be exact I have a Bushnell rimfire riflescope that I wanted to bring with me to the Philippines to use it on my brothers Ruger 10/22 while I was out there on vacation.
To be sure and clear of mind I think I'll just leave my scope here. I can't take any or add more of the airport hassles.

If you buy one overseas you wont have any problems, if you take it with you its like any other expensive camera some countries will make you declare it and when you leave you must show that it is leaving with you. Basically you didnt sell it, and if you did well they charge a fee or if it is illegal for civilians to have that they will confiscate and generally if you act normal you can pick it up when you leave. You must also keep in mind that the US restricts certain types of equipment that can be used by the military to be sold abroad (if restriction are enforced for that particular country that you are traveling to).
